Thread: L4D/Steam Corrupting other save game files(Mod, please move if this if needed)

I just noticed that any game that uses savegame files with the extension will be hijacked by L4D/Steam. I am not sure if this will affect either game, but if Steam is running, the *.sav files can be used as shortcuts to activate L4D. Also, if it isn't running, the game will appear to launch until it gets to the point when it is loading, right after the intro movie.

Again, I don't know if this adversely affects anything, but if you see any *.sav file with an L4D icon on it, this is why.

Games that appear to be effected (for me) are as follows
Galactic Civilizations 2
C&C Generals Zero Hour
C&C Generals
Halo PC
Star Wars KoTOR 1
Star Wars KoTOR 2
C&C Red Alert 2/Yuri's Revenge
C&C Tiberian Sun
Splinter Cell
Star Wars Jedi Knight 3
Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow
C&C Renegade


Again, I don't know if this will adversely effect anything. But it's weird.....

This is just a registry association. You may clear it if you wish, but all the games will still run happily without any real effect. The only things that are different are the icon and what program it will try to use to open them (by default).

Awesome game selection by the way. I have a lot of DOS-y era games that now have the L4D stamp all over their folders, but oh well.
