Hey guys.. I have a pair of L4D insert sheets..

So I bought two copies so my girlfriend and I could play L4D together, except she left me for a derby girl last week before I even installed them. She emptied out our apartment pretty well, took a lot of stuff that wasn't even hers, including the L4D boxes and disks.

Too bad I already put the cd key sheets in my big binder 'o warranty info and product registrations.

I no longer have any desire to play L4D but if anyone wants to buy the keys game insert sheets which coincidentally have cd key data on them from me and have their game install be provided by Steam, now's your chance.

Anyone interested?

If you'd rather I just flush $60 down the drain and toss my perfectly good cdkey slips into the fireplace, I guess I could do that instead of trying to salvage the situation somewhat by giving someone who wants to play L4D a smoking deal.

No, I'm saying that there is no way for you to prove that the CD keys are legit, that they work or aren't VAC banned.

I'm sorry that your girlfriend left you, but this situation has enough unknowns to make me fairly uncomfortable.

Isn't selling used licenses against the Valve TOS to begin with? I thought they only allowed you to gift a game?

I bet anyone $32 that my cdkeys slips are legitimate, unused, and obviously since unused, unbanned. By the way saying that there's no way to prove that they are 'legit' is kind of silly considering that I can send a scan of the insert slip, or even mail it.

I figured I'd just send someone the key first and after they're satisfied, then they give me a 'donation' I've played enough on the BF2 vanilla server to know you guys are trustworthy.

Of course, if you don't allow this, then I'll respect that. It seems like a shame, though.

Selling a used key is impossible considering it gets linked to your steam account. Selling a steam account is against their TOS. Selling an unused game is not illegal as far as I have seen and I see no mention of it in their TOS.

He has basically a new game if the key hasn't been used yet. That isn't any more illegal than buying the game for your friend and just giving it to them.

That being said, there are issues that could arise if you ever tried to prove your ownership of another person's account by showing that you purchased the L4D copy that is installed on another players account. That alone is enough for me to say I want no part of this.

...I don't see where you are pulling legality of selling an unused key out of that forum.

Games bought through steam immediately are linked to your steam account so that would require you to sell the steam account in order to sell the game... which obviously violates the TOS.
