I think it was worth it, although I haven't played VS yet. It is definitely a great deal harder than L4D1, and I was impressed by the amount of new variety they put into Finales and Crescendoes. Even still, I was disappointed on a couple counts:

-BOT FRIGGIN' AI. I swear, it got even worse (for the Survivors I mean). I'm sitting there getting torn apart by a hunter and the fucking bots are standing there killing CI. *facedesk*

-I think the L4D1 had more of a "cinematic" feel to them. I could totally see them as an actual movie unto themselves. The L4D2 campaigns felt more "arcadey" to me, especially DC. I think HR is my favorite so far, as it was closest to the "cool cinematic" feel that made me love L4D1, TF2, and the Modern Warfare games.

Bot AI for survivors is downright embarrassing now. You can usually go through an entire campaign of Expert in L4D and only have issues at the finale. In L4D2, it's tough just making it to the safe room at the end of the first map.

I've caught bots just standing in place getting beat on by CIs. Literally, just standing there and doing absolutely nothing. Somewhere there are some coding issues, I think.

Not usually many people to play with. They're already in a game, or don't want to play.

Hence why most of my gametime in L4D2 will probably be through Quick Play, just like in L4D.
