Runtime error causing crashes...Help?

Run time error. Happens at random, crashes the game.

Updated Video Drivers
Turned off/on Multicore Rendering

Nvidia 9800 GT
Vista

Anyone help?

vertical syncing, or what ever the fuck that is. Turn it off. I kept multi-core rendering on and turned off that vertical sync and I did not have any hang ups or freezes. WTF is vertical syncing anyways?

My game keeps doing this wierd-ass minimizing shit.. both L4D games do it. Just, at random, minimizes... pisses me off :/

Its what forces the video card to sync with the monitor. ... With it off some games look like a strobe light when you make quick turns..

Never had that problem. I run a 8800GTS 512 (a 2? 2.5? year old card) and can play this game (brand new) on max with out any issues.

Play a game like fear/doom3/wolfenstein and you will notice the lighting difference with the strobe effect. With the clouded template over l4d you dont get the strobe effect.

It's not about old cards... It's just about how the card renders the game. If it is off sync with the monitor then it will look like the game is choppy..

The monitor refreshes (most of the time, you can set this up) around 60 Hertz (60 cycles a second). It's not a real-time update. If the video card sends the info for the refreshes between refresh 1 and refresh 2, it may appear as nothing happened, or get choppy. Thus verticle sync.

Or atleast that's the way I understand it

Did you try turning of v sync to see if that helped? As far as I know its relatively new, so it may not play well with other programs, like quick time.
