    Let me just say I love the new scoring system.

    There's no more gaming the system for maximum points by saving health; its now just a simple game of how far did you get and who survived. I love it.

    And the best part is that health is now just health. If you have pills or a medpac and are low on health, you're free to heal up without fearing that you'll get a worse score than the other team. In fact, you'll probably get a better score because you'll have a higher chance at survival due to having more health.

    Btw for those who are not aware, scoring is now a simple
    1) Percentage of the map complete multiplied by the score value of the map
    2) For each survivor that got to the end, you get 25 pts.

    So level 1 of the parish is 400 map points. If all 4 survivors complete it, you get 500 pts (100% x 400 + 4 x 25)

    Granted, the new infected combos are very powerful so everyone surviving might not happen.

    The scoring system is great. But explaining it to players is pissing me off. "I don't need to heal," player Dumb says "I'm saving my medkit till the end." As a spitter incaps them, and I'm rode off by the jockey.

    The only thing I don't like about it is that it caters to the rushers. There's no incentive to explore to find health items as long as they are healthy. The players can just rush their asses off and get the same score as another team that takes it's time and finds items.

    I started to see that last night possibly playing against you... can't remember who I was playing with other than Maggot who was being an ass.

    It also makes it very hard for a come-from-behind victory. If you are behind on the finale, there's not going to be a last second 2000 point reprieve as you hop on that chopper unless you wipe the opposing team right out of the gate. A few hundred points is a large hurdle to overcome.

    But overall I do like the new scoring system.

    I've always been curious about this (even L4D1) does the Infected's score even matter?

    It doesn't matter as far as the game goes I don't think... But it is tracked and might be part of your global score on steam.

    but see that's a strawman argument that assumes people are not getting damaged. I have yet to see a versus game where people actually had medpacks left at the end. People are getting thrashed left and right in L4D2.

    Specifically in last nights game there were a couple of times we only survived because we were able to find a medkit or two later in the level

    So to think about this another way, the rushers could get royally screwed because they miss out on the badly needed health buffs in order to survive the level.

    The infected score doesn't determine anything in the match you're playing.

    However it is an indicator of who's doing the most damage for your team, as that's how someone gets those points. I'm not positive, but I even think 1Hp = 1pt for an infected.
