Thread: Why L4D2 is better than BF2.....

I played l4d and l4d2 on xbox....it's pretty fun...I played it online but never really played it competitively so I don't know about the great teamplay that's involved with l4d2.

Do I miss anything by getting the new one having never played the old one? And is it easy to hop in and play with friends,or do you have to get the people together first,and then start playing? And is it like PR where you have to plan on being on for 3 hours to finish a map?

Yeah you really don't get any idea of the teamplay value of left 4 dead (2) until you start really playing VS for a while and start seeing good teams doing exceptionally well coordinated attacks or protecting each other's backs as survivors. Nothing like seeing a survivor with good health intentionally hanging at the back of the pack running backwards protecting someone that's messed up in front of them moving at half speed limping and bleeding out... or stepping in front of them to intercept a hunter attack... Or a perfectly timed four person special infected attack that takes an entire team's health down by half. Just nothing else out there like it.

You get a lobby together with 4 or 8 people. Then start playing. But just add people here to your friends list on steam, get an invite to the steam group for l4d2, and we'll get you into some games.

I'm still more of a "non-fiction" urban warfare FPS kinda' gamer though

Oh yeah... 3 hours is a bit much. A full length vs game can last up to around 2 hours though... But most are around an hour to an hour and a half. But if you want to play scavenge mode those are a LOT quicker vs matches.

Where di you play BF2 and who with? TTPers on TTp servers. Why on earth would you settle for anything less in L4D2? We play it no more competatively than TTPers play BF2.. in other words, we dodn't turn it into some cheapened CAL/TWL?CEVO bullshit, but we play it hard, with strategies, teamwork and tactics. Way more fun that way.

You can play L4D2 without playing the first one.. it's got slightly more of a story than BF2.. which isn't saying much.. so you're not missing any huge "plot" or anything to that effect.

The lobby system can be tedious while you're trying to fill it (and then invariably over-inviting and having to tell someone you invited that the lobby is now full). Also, generally a game never lasts any less than an hour..average campaign time in VS is about 11/2 hours or so. Sometimes shorter, sometimes longer. Co-op games if played from start to finish take longer, depending on the difficulty setting. Expert? Plan on at least 3 hours to complete.

I get what you're saying...it's just not appealing to me to kill the living dead or people of the future or cartoons ... I'm solely interested in urban warfare games.
