Why L4D2 is better than BF2.....

This thread might be a little.... heated

    hahaa!!!

I love playing a round of BF2... In fact BF2 is still my favourite game. That being said... L4D2 seems to be more satisfying for me - the fact I love zombies may play a huge role... But I find that BF2 you have to constantly play to be a worthy adversary - I get 180ping on BF2 and find it frustrating most the time, Mondays I skip out to a buddies house and use his web (50 ping) and have a blast! So please don't hate on me for hating BF2 because its still the best game out there for teamplay and crazy war stuff...

L4D2 is kinda random... in fact even more than the first. You can be a newbie (like moi) and still manage to kick around and take out some serious hard-core L4D peeps - I like the fact that skill gets trumped by dumb-luck If you've ever paintballed you know this can be so true in a gun fight... This is why L4D2 is better than BF2 (Lol I know contradiction). L4D2 you can play a couple of times a week and still be good. I love the fact you can play L4D2 and spend a good hour just having action filled madness!

In closing I must say if BF2 would incorporate an auto shotty that kicks ass and a katana, with a med kit - I'd be well happy!!!

While I would agree that luck does play a part in L4D... When you get two pretty good teams together it's more about the teamwork and coordination of attacks of the SI, and how aware the survivors are of the environment around them. So for my money, I'd have to say that there's even more emphasis on teamwork in L4D than in Battlefield. And anyone can nade spam no matter how good or bad they are in BF2... but to land a 25 point hunter pounce... or get a long range spit at JUST the right moment in JUST the right spot to take out 3 survivors while your teammates delay them and take out the 4th... or being able to take out a charger coming right at you with a fire axe... or get that jockeyed player off a 4 story building at just the right time when the other three aren't looking... That takes a lot of skill.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

One thing they both have in common...

If you go to a BF2 pub other than ttp you will have a terrible experience no teamplay and or no communication

If you go to a L4D pub other than ttp you will have a terrible experience the random fucking noob comments the random kick votes and or no communication.

Stick with TTP and they both offer a very team oriented style and friendly too....

I will not play either game unless im playing with people i know.

No doubt Kanati - I feel the same way that teamwork is paramount and probably is more than BF2. I still feel - maybe this is just because I'm still fairly new to the game, that luck seems to be more happily around in L4D... Nade spamming aside in BF2 the weapons require allot more discipline than L4D (IMHO) I find after a small break from BF2 I return to horrible aim and frustration over how I can't hit the side of a barn with a Dao...

War you hit the nail square and fair - had a guy say after a L4D game -" Holy Shit - friends only game is the way to go!!!" So true. TTP rules!

I have played in many pub games that were very good. Just because it isn't filled with friends doesn't mean everyone sucks (although that is the case in the majority of times). You have to play in pubs to gain those good friends at first anyways, so there is no guarantee that pubs will be a horrible experience.

On the topic of luck, L4D is full of it. You might have the skill to land that 25 pounce or spit at the perfect time or what not, but you first have to get the character that you are skilled with to be able to do it at the right time. Example: you see a perfect spot up ahead for a 25 pounce. You keep killing yourself just to get the hunter, only to keep getting everything but. This is of course stupid to do, but my point stands at needing the right thing at the right spot.

A combination of skill and luck in L4D is required at all times. If a team member gets that hunter but doesn't think about going to the high spot (or doesn't know how to climb the wall or something) then that hunter would be wasted. He got the luck of the draw for hunter, but lacked the skill. This also can go for any game though to be honest. Skill + luck = win.

Ah, but that just means you can't specialize. You have to be good at ALL aspects of the game in L4D. Whereas in BF2 you can be that one guy that specializes in air-whoring, or being a medic, or being AT. And never have to deal with the rest of the classes.

With L4D you have to be good at ALL the "classes" in order to be GOOD.

Yes Kanati, and that is why I brought up the part about wasting the other things before hunter would be stupid. You must admit though, there are times where you can be fantastic with something, only to spawn in a useless spot with it. Plus the fact that I stated in another thread that survivors always have an advantage if they are good. They can stop anything if they are smart enough, fast enough, and skilled enough.

That's why I said that luck does play a part in it. Sometimes you do just get a useless spawn. Though I would also state that none of them are useless if they are used along with the other spawned infected. Sure a hunter in a hallway isn't as effective as he is sitting on a four story building with the survivors on the ground below. But that's only if you look at it as JUST that hunter. When you add the charger, spitter, and boomer into the equation, you just got yourself a recipe for dead survivors. I've started seeing a LOT more people spit at the feet of a charged person and you know what? 100 health turns into 20 REAL quick when that happens. It's guaranteed to take at least half the survivor's health. The charger by itself might have done 15 at most... the spitter might have been avoided entirely. But it doesn't matter how fast the survivors were before that charge... now they either use a health pack or move at half the speed they were moving because they are toting around someone with 20 health.

To quote mister Slow Hand, Eric Clapton... "It's in the way that you use it."

Re: Why L4D2 is better than BF2.....

And by the way... I could live with the survivors of both teams making it into the safe room every... single... time. Then it comes down to how skillful each team was with those supposed useless spawns. It's going to mean that as infected you DO have to be that much better each and every time you coordinate an attack so that you get the +25 bonus at the end of each round.

L4D2 does tend to favor the "rush" tactic which I hate frankly. I like to be much more methodical in my movement through a map. But I'll just have to adapt. And because those survivors might be rushing now, it means that they have to stay together that much better. And communicate that much more if they get separated. Because if you get smoked back and are being covered by three other infected... while your team hesitates for 2-3 seconds... That just ended their rush and the scales tip in the favor of the infected as they coordinate that attack.

I love a close game. And when you are fighting for that +25 bonus... You know it's going to be close.

I don't think these two games should be compared to one another considering the huge differences in gameplay.
