And for all of the shit talkers in this thread...it's a vs game, every time. show me how easy it is, and get your expert badges....any of you....before I do. I barely get to play a few times a week. Been crazy this week and played a whopping 3 nights in a row. wowowoooowowowwwooooo.

for those of you putting in 20 hours a week, like I could back in the day....what's your excuse?

Actually, you can kind of equate it to CS:S calls:


VS = the rush calls. Face paced, moving to the objective, not a lot of side trips.

Coop = the slow plays. More cautious movements, slower pace, side trips for much needed ammo/pick-ups.

The trouble is, both dull the other when played exclusively. People who predominantly play coop will get crushed in VS because they want to stop and smell the roses far too often. I call this "shopping". Always want to check every room, giving the enemy team plenty of time to spawn and set up their next assault. People who predominantly play VS want to move too quickly, are less cautious with their shots (in vs we can take a few friendly rounds and be ok, not so in Coop.. FF is the second most deadliest thing next to the CI), and don't "shop" enough.

Plus, it's a pacing thing.. you'll repeat the same level many times, every time moving at that pace.. that takes a long time to complete a campaign. The faster paced game works for some of us because once you die, the level is done and you get to go back to playing the infected, which is infinately more enjoyable than playing Survivors (at least for me). But then, by closing yourself off and never playing VS, you cut yourself off from learning a very unique skill-set in playing the Special Infected.

No. Unlike you my steam is on 24/7 and I'm always connected. I have to tell people all day long that I'm at work and can't play. 2-3 times a day every day. And I join when people invite me. I rarely ever start a game myself.

Last night... I started a game of "gasp" expert co-op with bots TWICE and had people join on me.

So as I said... Invite me when I'm not in a game. I'll join.

feel free to slow play. some parts, sure. other parts....you're dead, and we're not coming back for you. Carnival is a perfect example of that. We run our ass, calling shots on the fly as if it's rush left on dust 2.

shows what you know...or at least who you play with and what they know.

Given the lack of fear of hordes, the ubiquitousness of med kits and pills.....shopping isn't required.

in expert, especially realism....if you don't find the paddles, the bile, the deagle, the ammo.....then there's no point. You're not going make it from the safe room to the end without supplies. and they're not just sitting around, in surplus.

I will admit...easily....I'm probably as good as tony when playing as an SI. And that can't be very good.

But as a human......I don't care what game you play....fast, slow, tight groups, or spread thin.....I play what's in front of me. there is no set way to beat any level on expert. Just like vs, there's choke points, and places to be afraid of getting caught with your pants down...but there are no guarantees that any strategy works every time. Some...maybe 60 or 70%. but even then...that's a stretch.

And yet here I am playing co-op on my own, and knowing where bot SI are. Watching them come out in the open to get shot at. Maybe a few times they catch me off guard, but that's only when I'm fighting the horde. But maybe that's cause I play vs, and I know what to expect from them. Cause like I said Vs is about harder SI co-op is harder hordes.

In a slow play, are there not parts where quick bursts happen? Are these not within the realm of "cautious movement"? Moving quickly from one place to the next because going slow is death, is an act of caution, yes?

You can dance and dance with words with me.. fine.. I've put in enough time in expert to know two things. What it's about, and why I like VS better. About the only thing you can say I haven't put the time into is Realism, and I'm content to leap that hurdle when I get around to it. A few less cool medals and acheivements aren't going to make me lose sleep.

In the meantime, I will continue to get a game up with 7 other friends, or even leave some slots open to try to get new blood, and be more than happy with that. Knowing I got to munch on Kanati's spleen is more than enough achievement for me.

You've yet to beat all 5 on expert, and I'm willing to guess at all. I've ran through all camps with bots on advanced. Saving them all as well.
