Lets talk rage!
So L4D2... Its an awesome game of strategy, skill and luck. I have played a fair amount of games and try to play with as many people as possible. I have found my favourite players who are strong enough to push through adversity, even when its staring at you with a big ol' ugly 159 to 935 third round. I like those players that don't get put down like this. There are some players out there that don't and those ones can ruffle a team up and make them act less as a unit and therefore lose worse... Worst case scenario people rage quitting on a game, Personally my # 1 pet peev in this game is someone who gets destroyed then turns around and is like see ya guys, finale time. Does this piss off anyone else or am I taking the game too seriously?

Re: Lets talk rage!
Here's my rule of thumb: If I feel I cannot complete the game I'll let my team-mates know - an awesome example of it was Solstatic last night, 2nd map he says guys, I hate to do this to you all but I need to get going in half an hour tops, or after this map or as soon you can replace me!... So I instantly pm a couple of guys saying "man down need help" 10mins later one of those people PM back and Sol jumps out, Loki jumps in. I know people have lives and just have to leave, they may have been ready for the full game now suddenly the dog fell down the stairs or something important in real life. Rage quitting kills me becuase it just shows a level of disrespect for the other players. I remember one game we had a guy who was like, this is ridiculous we're done (on the third map) and wanted to quit and I gave him a right bollocking because I told him, take the good and bad and learn from both. He stayed and was pissy so he quietened down on the bitching and whining the team pulled together and we closed the gap and map a great finale to close it even more. Did we win? No... But what I learnt from that game was that tenacity and determination is something that must be cultivated. Thorsen hates losing. I mean hates it with a passion. He'll never quit, he'll push the team and make sure they get the best round they can. I'll remind my team we're here for a good time so just enjoy. We both don't accept the rage and it makes us better players. As of now if someone rage quits and it's obvious they wont be re-invited to my lobbies. Simple and easy. /end rant

Re: Lets talk rage!
RQing is my #2 pet peeve. My #1 pet peeve is "I did the math and theres no way we can win this." which to me translates as "Theres no reason to try now...". Im playing my ass off every round, never paying attention to the score until the very end. Its exciting to see the tally at the end. Sitting there talking about 'what-if' scenarios is like ruining the ending of a movie for me. Just play the game and dont lay down.
I remember we were getting killed on Parrish once and we all knew there was no way we could win, but instead of just not giving a shit and stop communicating, we decided to go for a smaller victory and get farther than the other team in the finale. We ended up incapping/killing the opponents before the first tank and ended up getting 3 of us to the chopper when it was our turn. So much fun because we never gave up, no matter what the points said.

Re: Lets talk rage!
I can't remember EVER having left a game I started. And I never start a game I don't intend to finish.
I've gotten a bit agitated a FEW times I can remember, but I always stick it out even when ROYALLY getting raped. I even volunteered to let a full eVo-rape team practice on me and three pubs way back when in the first game. I think it was the first time I saw an 8000+ score (and we may or may not have broken 1000). I don't CARE if I lose. Obviously I would rather win, but it's not that important that I would freak out and throw temper tantrums if I don't.
If I am losing badly I still look forward to the finale and seeing if I can get on that boat/chopper/car/whatever. I figure even if I'm getting beat badly, if we can get more people out of the finale than they did... or at least as many... it's still a minor victory despite what the score says.

Re: Lets talk rage!
I honestly have not seen many people rage quit while playing at TTP. Certainly have been a few, but not a ton. Sure it's annoying, but that goes right into my #1 LFD2 pet peeve - waiting 30 minutes in the safe house at the start of a map!
Seriously, I cannot remember the last time I have played a game without having to wait AT LEAST 10 minutes at the start of a section. Most maps already take a long time to play, people just feel that they need to make them take longer i guess

Re: Lets talk rage!
I agree wholeheartedly with everything you've said Max. Rage quitting is definitely a dick move. Obviously people have lives and things come up but its pretty obvious when someone is just raging. "Sorry guys G2G" is not an adequate explanation guys.
Here's THE TIP, if you don't think you'll be able to play the whole game, stay out of the lobby. DOD could probably use priming or something.
