This is why Random Sucks:
I want to broach the subject of a shitty random system that puts Thor, Kanati, Ribber and Me VS Steggo, Bob, Pote/Sol, and Paradigm. Obviously it's completely random because Thor and I have NEVER seen a 3K game. Thats usually because we make sure the teams are fairly even, in fact after seeing this happen I will from now on have a mandate in my lobbies that Random is no longer an option, Captains only and we make sure the game is consistently close, even if it means flip flopping people around for a few turns...

Re: This is why Random Sucks:
I'm not advocating that every game needs to be a clean, perfectly even match, but when random places all of the best players on one side and all of the inexperienced on the other side, there's little way to make the best out of the situation. When teams are that badly stacked, you may as well be playing against bots on campaign. Regulars should easily be able to spot out the inexperienced ones and make a call before the game starts. It would be disingenuous to think that everything will be fine and then waste two hours on what should have been a campaign match for four players.
I enjoy having team captains because it usually prevents bad stacking, but even without team captains, we really should be calling a spade a spade when random mucks things up this bad and do what we can to rectify the situation before the match begins.

Re: This is why Random Sucks:
I like random, but if there are new players its best to at least put someone good with them and the let the rest random. I like random because you never know what you'll get. And contrary to belief me and thorsen on the same team is bad... We stop and look at the flowers and then go "oh shit we should keep moving." When we play against each other we stay on our toes. But its fun for me even on a team that gets smashed. If its because we have new players its ok, if its because we were being stupid then that makes me mad.
Put me with the noobs, I need some zombie bait

Re: This is why Random Sucks:
I know this is aimed at me, and I have to disagree with you and Bob.
I pick the two most inexperienced players as captains for a reason. I do it to split the lack of experience up between the teams. If there are two good leaders in a lobby, like myself and Walker, or Blitz or flame etc, then I will make them the two captains to make sure both teams get a leader. In the case you're talking about we had a lot of good players, but not a lot of leaders. So I wanted to split up the two newest players.
Being picked as captain has nothing to do with being bad or good at the game. It doesn't mean you lead your team during the match, it's purely for choosing teams.
I am a fan of captains, I prefer a balanced match, and I will usually always do captains. I'm always willing to volunteer to switch teams too if they are uneven, so ask me if you think it's time for a switch.
The fact is though, there are times when you're going to lose and lose badly, and you can't always blame it on teams. Eventually you have to step up and lead your team yourself and not always rely on someone else to lead you. Obviously this was NOT one of those cases because it was just so blatantly stacked, but there are cases where you'll have several good players on a team, but none of them step up and lead, and they'll lose badly to a team with leadership and direction, no stack required.

Re: This is why Random Sucks:
However with captains you do tend to try and get not only even team but better ones. Yes you want even team, but you also wanna win\have a fun game. I think we should do random, then start\stop the game, see if the teams are even, and then we start playing. Let the lobby decide, but don't start till everyone is ok with the set up(in lobby). As long as thorsen doesn't get an auto tho I think we're all fine
