"I Hate Mountains"
Caught a video on HardOCP of a new campain called "I Hate Mountains" and it looks good but there isn't much about the campaign on the "H" site and the link to Shacknews is blocked for me here at work. Anyone hear of this one?

Re: "I Hate Mountains"
It was close, but I think this has surpassed Suicide Blitz as my new favorite campaign.
Level 1: Very short, Valve-style environment
Level 2: Very original concept, superb atmosphere/environment. Crescendo was very unique and crazy. However, there is MAJOR map bug - after the event (the big part of it) occurs, do NOT go to the left of the site where the barricade is. Touching certain props will stick you in an immobile "falling" position, and the only way out of it is to get smoked.
Level 3: EXTREMELY long level, enough for two tanks and two witches. Can be confusing at the beginning-mid because of multiple paths (although all but one will be blocked off). There is a particularly good area where the lights suddenly go out. Unfortunately, that was where I had a witch (and a horde).
Level 4: Once again an amazing environment, and quite the amazing custom Crescendo effects.
Finale: Great finale area, superb lightning effects. Rain effects do not measure up to sound effects, but this is an engine limitation, not a creator mishap. Finale actually tricks you a litte - there's a helipad and dock, but the escape vehicle is not what you'd expect...
Other:
-Great custom graffiti, and lots of it. Includes lots of metagame references (lots of Chicago Ted "Soviet Russia-style" jokes, a running gag with a french-speaking messanger, shout-out to Dead Before Dawn)
-I am especially impressed with the environments and effects created for Levels 2, 4, and 5. Very realistic, highly-detailed environments.
-Multiple paths are done correctly, in that they last for only a short part of the level (ie go in the manor via the garage, or the front door?)
-Subtle little story-esque scenes, such as the infested traffic jam in front of the evac post and the belfry saferoom in the manor
Cons:
-Having so many custom things (sounds, music, visuals) this is a somewhat buggy campaign. When I had to input the "rebuildaudocache" command the campaign reloaded very, very slowly and bugged up my pause menu for the first level. The aforementioned map bug during the L2 Crescendo. For full immsersion you have to take several, but easy, steps. My main menu also had its color go batshit after I finished, but that's not much of a complaint since you can exit out.
-AI Pathfinding was very buggy when the escape vehicle arrived. Almost got killed on easy difficulty because of it
-Custom saferoom music can get annoying after a while (I was reading all custom graffiti)
-Third level stretches a little too far IMO, First level a little too short

Re: "I Hate Mountains"
They say the L4D2 version won't be as good, because it was designed for L4D1. I haven't checked if it's a VS campaign yet, but I hope it is.
Correction: There is a VS version and I'm psyched to play. Tonight, anyone?Last edited by Wraith; 06-09-10 at 10:58 AM.
