Fun fun map, would love to play it in realism vs. (and be the best Realism Vs. map imo). Of course it will probably be one of those maps everyone plays once, comes up with some stupid reason (i.e. its too harrrddd, its tooo loooonnggg, its too shoooorrtttt (because a map seems to have to between an exact amount of time, or no-one will ever play it and shoot it down before even trying it)). to never play it in vs, and just plays the same 4 maps OVER AND OVER AND OVER.

Re: L4D Blog: Cold Stream Beta Release
Played it twice in vs last night... realism and non realism. It's a tough map either way if you have a good SI team. But overall I think I like it. The finale needs a bit of work (specifically the very end where there's a ladder leading up to a floating railroad tie that a helicopter is hovering next to. But nobody got to it anyway.
It does seem like maybe there's too MUCH of one thing in the four maps... Very linear, run in the stream... But again... it's different, and a good thing. I rate it.......... 6.5/10

Linear but it takes you up and down from the stream to the cliffs above it and back down, but I agree. A lot of stream action. The part where youre coming out of the storm drain and get the glare from the sun to only vaguely see silhouettes is a great idea though.

Re: L4D Blog: Cold Stream Beta Release
They introduced a few new mechanics, like that glare. We were able to get a successful hit INSIDE the tunnel just using those two boxes to spawn, and boomer two boomed by spawning in the safe room.
I absolutely hated playing infected because it seemed very difficult to spawn. Part of it was definitely inexperience on the map, but the other part is that there are no walls... its all questionably sized rocks, trees, etc that may or may not be enough cover to spawn in.
There were also a few glitches. Two SV spawned underground in the tunnel safe room and during that same map it spawned me as infected all the way back in that same safe room when SV were at least 50% of the way...but thats because this is a beta version I am sure.
I give it a 6/10. I would like to play it on a regular basis.

Re: L4D Blog: Cold Stream Beta Release
The infected teams don't need any help with anything... Played it 5 times in vs now. And even in regular vs people die VERY quickly. I was holding back one game just so I could see someone make it in the finale but it still didn't happen. The campaign needs a LOT of balancing work I think. It's kinda nice in that it's reasonably quick... and it's a challenge for SV... but if you are looking to make safe room any time soon it's probably not going to happen if you have competent SI teams.
