Practice league is bad for practice lol. You get used to the slower pace and then end up worse for it. Practice custom matches against AI on the real speed, thats good practice...

Re: Ladder rankings
I hate the slowness of practice and the fucking rocks on ramps that prevent scouting. Lost my first practice because I couldn't scout a void rush in time. But it gives my ego a boost because I'm better than the average newbie. I almost won a 2v1 all by myself

Practice maps are a waste of time. Jump into the fray of things and either do ladder or go and do custom maps. Those rocks prevent alot of scouting (a very very important skill you need to learn) any type of early harass which you will need to learn how to spot (scouting) and fend off and get used too the speed of the game play at faster not normal.
Who cares if you start off in bronze when i started back in beta 1 I was placed in bronze. After the first reset I've started no lower than sliver and in high gold. Hell this time I started off in sliver mainly due to me thinking of swapping to toss and I said to hell with it and went back to Zerg(my heart belongs to the Swarm). In 2 days and 25 games I'm in plat. (14 and 11 record mind you I've only seen 2 terrans).
The best way to get better and used to how things are played in 1v1 2v2 3v3... 10v10 is just to do it and work you way up and ask others who you know play the race for pointers and watch every replay and say what can I do better. I know myself I need to keep up on my queen macro and work more on my creep highway. The hardest thing is getting the build orders that works for you and that you can get success with. In my case I tend to favor 14gas/13 pool builds that can lead into a slightly delayed FE's or into tech builds or fast roach or speedling builds as zerg. Seeing as I scout very early to pick up on what is going on in my enemy base and to watch for cheese(6-8 pool ling rushes 2 gate lot charges fast hellions or reapers).Last edited by Raptor; 07-30-10 at 07:03 PM.

Man, I see ya'll like Zergs but every 1v1 Quick match I've ever done it's always damn Protoss and occasionally a Terran, no damn Zerg players out there.
