Re: No Mercy 2
The thing is you see these maps being churned out and how many of them are quality from start to finish and ensure a balanced gameplay? I didnt mean it in the sense that he needs experience in that field in order to criticize, Im just saying theres more to the process of putting out an official product than just designing a map and throwing it out there. Im sure they tested the shit out of the gameplay being balanced, the layout, and the look of the map.
I think its just silly when people bitch about DLC. Its EXTRA content for the game you purchased. The developers dont owe you shit after the game comes out, but instead have worked to give us plenty of updates and extra content and still there are people out there that feel that thats not enough.

There are very few custom map designers that fit that criteria.. but their campaigns show the results.. Death Aboard, Suicide Blitz, Coal'd Blood (tho a bit tipsy on balance in vs play), Detour Ahead and a very select few others come to mind that I've played either in L4D1 or L4D2

Riddle me this:
Which is better?
A) A full game featuring 15 campaigns released every 3 years.
B) A game released with only 5 campaigns released but with 1 addon being added every year for 3 years?
C) A game released with 5 campaigns but with a $10/mth subscription, but GUARANTEED addon campaign every quarter and mutations each week, with the current maps being modified every month (new paths, open new areas etc).

Being Valve, kind of surprised they haven't tried to nab some of the better map makers to do some stuff (or turn them into official maps) etc. being they have been big on mod makers historically.
As for new maps/DLC/etc., have to imagine they'll tie it into the comics somehow (you'd have to think). Granted The Passing ending didn't do that at all (They were supposed to have left on the boat to the keys, yet in the Passing they are still there at the bridge? Oo)
