Thread: Even teams up during a match?

Re: Even teams up during a match?
Well, after nearly a week the votes are dead even, however, many opinions have been expressed and lots of points made. This thread is a prime example of the sheer fucking awesomeness and maturity of TPG.
I suppose this leaves us back at square one: It's up to both teams to agree on a team switch and if one refuses - well that's the way it is. This thread was mainly directed at those 1100 - 200 point games after two rounds or an apparent massive skill difference between teams. I don't mind taking my 2000 - 1000 point beatings and so on but when you're stuck at an average of 100 points a map there is no reason to continue, it simply isn't fun. When the score is 1000 to assrape if we cannot agree on switching teams up perhaps we can agree on returning back to lobby and restarting with captains or random again.

Re: Even teams up during a match?
This a hundred times.
Also, this etiquette issue of evening up the teams is not new. I've played L4D2 on TPG since it was released and have been advocating even the teams up for as long as I can remember. There was a long period where I wouldn't join a game unless I was guaranteed we'd captain up.
I'll say it again, a L4D2 match is just way too long to deal with the bullshit of vastly uneven teams.

My 2 cents, which I have probably borrowed from others to put together.
1. If you join a lobby and see who all is there ask if it is captains or random. If it is random then play out the worst case scenario (what if I am put on a team with 3 Civil's) based on the lobby, and if you think you can handle playing that match then stay. If you think there is a possibility that your team could suck then ask the lobby leader to do captains, or leave.
2. If you join a lobby, see that there is a potential for shitty teams, know that it will be random, yet still stay then you should take your ass kicking like a man. You knew what the possibilities were before the game started. This is totally different than any other game where the players and admins have no control over who joins and leaves, or which team they join or leave.

Re: Even teams up during a match?
I admit, I like the way Krom handles "random" lobbies. he does random, but he false starts the game to see how the random will balance the teams. He then asks if everyone is ok with the teams as they are. If not, people switch out, then he starts it, if they are, then he just starts it.

[QUOTE=flame;1450324]We made a nice comeback, wasnt a big come back just a steady one.
The other day I didnt want to swap players but when two and half rounds in and its almost mathematically impossible to win, we swapped a player just for the sake of having a game. Then we realized green had her mic off... lol
oh thank you flame for throwing my dumbass moment in there haha lmao. love that

Re: Even teams up during a match?
Here's a counterpoint... Don't remember who was on the teams except Knee and I. We went 600 to about 100 on the first map and he immediately called "teams?" Now you know my view. Once the game starts, play with what you got unless it's ridiculous. Well guess what. We eventually made enough mistakes that we lost in the end by about 300 points. You just never know what's going to happen and one map does NOT make a game.
