Leaving Early
I wanted to address what Rush was talking about in the problem player thread about leaving early without cluttering up a business thread about it.
You (Rush) mentioned that someone should never leave early even if they have a replacement. I'm not sure where you are going with that. If someone has to leave early for pretty much any reason, they are free to do so. Personally, I think if you can't finish a game and you KNOW you can't finish it, you should never start it. But if someone finds out mid-game that they gotta go... They gotta go. I'd love to have a little warning so a replacement can be found... But if not, that's why we hold. And if they already have a replacement that they found themselves... All the better. No waiting and holding needed.
Now leaving before the game is over to join ANOTHER lobby starting up? That's just downright rude and will get you on my "do not invite" list. But there's no rule stating someone can't do it. Sure... go ahead and do it. You won't be getting invites to games very often any more, but you CAN do it. I've missed more than one game I've been invited to that I'd REALLY like to have played just because I was 5-10 minutes out in the game I was currently in. But if you are already in a game, you shouldn't leave to join another. That's a dick move and tells your team that you really don't give a shit if they win or lose. Suck it up and finish the game you are in and if there's a spot available in the next one... great. If not, start yourself a new lobby if you still want to play.
And that's Kanati's Two Cents of the Day.

Re: Leaving Early
I didn't mean to say that you shouldn't leave at all. If you have to go for some real life issue, go ahead... that is completely acceptable.
If you leave to join another lobby, or go to play another game (non-tourney, non-admin, just for fun playing) whether it be L4D2 or TF2.... thats just rude. Especially if you are on the loosing team.... you will quickly get a black mark from me for sure.-- Intentionally Left Blank --

Re: Leaving Early
One should consider that L4D2 takes a long time to play. L4D2 is very involving for a game, more so than CSS or TF2. With CSS or TF2 you can just leave at any time, consequence free. L4D2 is very personal, you are with the same 7 other people for hours at a time, and just one person can make a very huge difference because there are less people to help support the weight of a missing person. Unless you have at least an hour and a half of free time, you should never join a game. That said, sometimes emergencies come up, and we understand if you need to leave. Usually you can find someone willing to play. Take me for example, I'm up for some L4D2 at any time unless there's an excruciating circumstance

I've only left once during a match and it was very frustrating to have to do so. I seriously have to stop and think if I have anything going on for the next 1-2 hours in order for me to join a lobby. Even phones calls from my girlfriend have to be put on hold....not having your headphones on for even a minute could be the difference of you getting fucked. Lol I even had to tell my mom, "I'm in the middle of something very important!" when she asked me to help bring groceries in. I hate doing that to my mom, but I hate even more making 7 other people wait when they are trying to play a game.

Re: Leaving Early
I sigh when I see common sense threads like these, its simple guys if I am playing L4D2 with you and I leave to play BC2 I'm an asshole for doing so. Well maybe. Or maybe I just had a bad day and don't feel like sticking around to get raped. Maybe I got half way through a game and my lag was so bad I couldn't do it no more. Maybe I simply got bored or disliked my team. Regardless of MY reason whether I share it or not, I will usually find a replacement for you. Theres the key, replacing the missing person. Seriously we're all pretty mature around here can you not just get along? Putting me on your shit list because I felt like leaving early is just pointless, it breeds contempt, distaste for one another and an unhealthy group dynamic in the long run. Accept people have something better (or not) to do and play with the new team mate. Does it suck? Not really in the grand scheme of things. Tell the person that left that you had a good game with them and wished they could've stayed longer, chances are they'll turn and say "Yeah it was ok, but my dinners ready" or something like that. The only thing that sucks when you leave is waiting to fill a spot for 10 -20 mins. Hell I know I've made people wait ingame before as I battle with some stupid issue, I've seen people wait a long time then finally say lets replace him. Thats fine, it sucks but its the way the game goes. As far as I'm concerned in my games you get a 5min grace period after than I replace you with someone. We all came to play games, just do that guys come on.
