Re: L4D Blog: June 17th Update
Grrr, cant read these blogs at work... Im hoping its some form of SI practice. There was a rumored SI single player mutation when all of these started coming out and unfortunately it never did. I would LOVE to play that mutation to hone some skills and try out new things.

That's because if you're on another server (IE not on a local server or Single Player basically) then you still have SOME latency which makes the practice more valuable. Of course in a VS match there's latency for BOTH players which adds even more to the mix. Dead stop practicing is definitely valuable though.

Re: L4D Blog: June 17th Update
Yeah... There was a DS practice map for L4D1 that I spent a few hours in. Finally got it down to being able to deadstop or skeet 4 hunters in a time span of 5 seconds... then I went into a game and the actual deadstopping or skeeting process is completely different. When you have to compensate for both players, the technique changes drastically. Regardless, you will eventually have a basic understanding of when you actually need to punch or shoot to avoid the pounce.

Adjusting your lerp up or down will increase or decrease the distance the hunter needs to be at for the shove to register properly, respectively. I use 16.7 and assuming both players have relatively equal latency, it results in the shove needing to be made while the hunter is almost on top of you. You can play with the settings and adjust it as you like.
Then again, playing with a default lerp value and it doesn't seem to make much difference. It could end up making changes that are so small the perceived difference is more or less just psychological.
As far as I'm aware, adjusting lerp affects all hit registration, but again... chargers still miss depressingly often, I'll occasionally punch a survivor right in the center of the model and the hit doesn't register, and other assorted silliness. Your mileage will vary.
