Re: Question about teamplay
Fine, don't lock it then, you don't need to attack me for saying imo that this has gone on for far too long and should be locked, I've been ignoring this so I didn't notice until after Sherriff posted that it was even still going on, and that was when I posted what I did, I'm sorry that my timing isn't the best but that's no reason to attack me like that, really yes there could have been better communication in that situation but we all know how shit can hit the fan and I don't blame him for running there, now leaving is a different thing entirely, but this isn't something I was there for and I don't have anything to do with this so I'm shutting up now and leaving.

Re: Question about teamplay
imho
Smoke is a teamplayer 100%
Teamplay is getting the most points for your team, a judgement call? sure it was, but what if?.
I had a treehouse!

Re: Question about teamplay
fuck, I've run ahead so many times that people call it "pulling a knee". Sometimes, when you know your team is going to die where they stand, you have to just accept it and get those few extra points. Sometimes you are wrong, but those few extra points really can make a huge difference. Smoken nor anybody else is going to be correct 100 percent of the time, but at the end of the day he wants what's best for the team. If he thinks that running ahead is best for the team, he'll do it. that's what leaders do, they look out for the team's best interests.
You have to trust that smoken wants the same thing as you. You all share the same goal, getting points. If smoken screws you all over, he's also screwing himself over. There's no reason for him to do that.Last edited by Knee of Justice; 07-05-11 at 10:46 PM.

Re: Question about teamplay
My thoughts on all of this:
1) Forum > PM > In Game. Some of us can learn from this situation, unless its truly a personal thing, lets talk it out.
2) Can I get a tree house invite? I can sneak a few beers out of my parents' fridge if you invite me!

Re: Question about teamplay
Knowing now who it was... and that he wasn't drunk (lol)... gotta side with Smoken only in that it was a judgement call... and while it might have been the wrong call, it was made and mistakes happen. A good tank could PROBABLY have taken you all in the tunnel. A bad tank can be killed there. Not knowing which of the two it was, I might make the same choice and run for it. And if someone tries to hold spawn at the top of that ladder for more than 30 seconds... they will likely be snagged by an SI. I might have come back out after finding out the tank died, but that's a huge risk too if they had an SI sitting there waiting for me to do that.
Just way too many things can happen and once in the safe room it's always safest to keep your ass planted right there.
Smoken may piss me off a lot... and we might yell at each other occasionally... but I'd never call him anything other than a teamplayer. An angry angry teamplayer... but a teamplayer, and one of the best in the game. If he did it, he believed it the right thing to do at the time.
Ragequitting... never a viable option. I've gotten to that point too. Where I just want to shut the computer down and drop kick it out the window. But I won't leave the team hanging. I suggest, Salt, that if you get to that point again you just staple your mouth shut and finish out the game in silence. Or find a replacement before you split. But just up and leaving is not right.

Re: Question about teamplay
I for one enjoy playing with both parties. I did vote no on the poll "scenario" not on the actual case of the games in discussion. I do not blame smoke for his decision because it is a game where yes we play as a team, yes communication is important, yes one persons decision can cost or gain points. I am one that believes that games should be fun and enjoyable. If it is a close game as alot of our games are, then yes sometimes a quick decision could be the winning points. Not saying that all is about winning or losing. Yes it is about teamplay in this community. As well as people have to remember there are alot of competitive players in TPG as well. I do not always agree with a player leavin a game, but I do respect someone that will walk away so it does not cost them a friendship. Some cases its best to do that and leave it at that and not mention it anymore. In alot of cases in other games this would not be an issue, example BF2, if someone on the team was pushing for a flag on a map but someone side tracked the other team and took back the flag a team just took from you, he would be considered being a team player by sneaking around the incoming and getting the flag point. This might not of been discussed, but chances are nobody will say anything cause it was a good move for the team even if his help could have been used defending the flag being attacked. BUT this is not BF2 or CSS or many of the other games that are played. If this was BF2 yes I would want Smoken on my team and Salt, because I know Smoken is going to do what he feels is the best move and I also know Salt will play good with a strong defense against the on coming attack. Just my 2 cents and my true honest opinion, not attempting to step on any toes. BTW party at my treehouse this weekend.. I got the treehouse u bring the booze cause wood isnt cheap and u can pay for the beer :P

Re: Question about teamplay
No reason to lock this thread just yet, This here is exactly what the forums are for - To discuss the game, even the gripes and issues.
So far both parties have remained civil while voicing their complaints. As long as that continues and it does not spiral out of control there is no reason to lock this. P.M.s would have been a better avenue for these two to take their grievances however it is in the open now and who knows maybe they will publicly come to an accord and it will show how we do things here at TPG even when shit does hit the fan.
