Bunni,
I appreciate the tldr version, and even read it. I read both Knee's and BT's topics, and even replied in one, if not both. I know I am not an L4D player, and don't claim to be, but I do know TPG on pretty much every level. That being said I feel your points about the two topics contradict each other. First you said Knee did the right thing, but in the wrong way, because by doing it anonymously he was inviting a fuck you fest. Then you say that when BT posted his honest opinion that he wanted a heads up before joining a drunken game all it did was turn into a fuck you fest.
I always find it amusing when people from game A try to say there is too much drama in game B, and usually the finger is pointed at CS:S, but that is beside the point. The bottom line across all games is that people play HERE to have fun, and play to win. When others do not seem to be playing to win then it infringes on the fun of others, and I can see how that pisses people off, myself included. To me if you want to choose to do anything competitively, be it TPG or Tiddly Winks, then you need to put on your big boy pants and accept that people are going to criticize you. I have been bitched out by people in every game we host, and yet I still play every chance I can get.
My 2 cents is if you can't handle someone saying you aren't the best at something then get good. I know I suck at most of the games we host, but I give 100% every time I load in any game. From what I have seen in my years here is if you do that then you will fit right in.

Indeed, it does make sense. Thanks for the clarification.

Re: Wait...
I would say a possible solution to the problem of letting people know the admins were policed would be in what was done at the end of an admin abuse thread. If the investigation opened by an admin abuse thread amounts to anything and action is taken, just make a quick post before you close the thread. Something along the lines of "TPG doesn't condone actions like these, an investigation ran it's course and appropriate punishment was metted out." Details don't need to be given, which should prevent embarassment from drying up the volunteer admin pool, while still reassuring the community that the admin's are watched and it's not an "Old Boys Club" where everyone covers for others behind a veil of secrecy.

Re: Wait...
So... he did just get banned for saying the servers sucked?
It was his first time on TPG (I believe) and he was used to playing on some of the best servers available. He was basically saying that he wouldn't be doing very well on the servers because they aren't up at his standard servers that he is used to playing on. That would be like the people who say something along the lines of "Wow I should have got that pounce..." They are nearly saying the server messed up or maybe it was their ping spiked or something like that, but nobody ever gets in trouble. He said the servers sucked directly and others don't do that. I don't think he was going to come in and post his concerns, he was just stating that things weren't going how they normally do because of the server. It was almost like he got banned for not signing up on the forums and explaining his one sentence. So unless there was more to this conversation, I don't see that as ban-worthy... correct me please.

Re: Wait...
i think guyver is just trying to tell you the recommendation you made is something that is already in place.
however it is rare that a legitimate complain comes up, so you dont get to see it too often.

Re: Wait...
That's what I'm saying though. What you suggested does happen. Admins are watched. Ira did post saying it was an issue, and the admin in question was corrected. Admins have power, yes...but they can't just go all willy-nilly with that power. Everyone is subject to the rules. If I, or anyone else gets VAC banned...we're gone....even bigdog.
