A thread about me...
Well, all this talk of ratings, and how good people are and such has got me thinking. What can I do to be better, what do I need to do more of? Since school is starting back up and I may actually have time to play more, I wanted to get some things in my mind to work on, so if you have any interest in bettering me, shoot. Criticisms, suggestions, props anything welcome, I am well lubed and ready to go!

Oh the things I could say
Co-op. Period. If you can make it through expert on co-op then vs becomes easier. Learn to deal with horde, witches, and tanks without having to worry too much about SI. That in turn translates to a new way of thinking in vs mode, making it easier for you.

Re: A thread about me...
my best advice to a new player is play coop A LOT! It will teach you the maps, how to deal with hordes, where items generally spawn, how to communicate your exact location to your team , how to fight a tank or a witch. go for your expert achievements when your comfortable on expert campaigns your ready to begin to learn how to play expert realism.
yes I know some of you have jumped in and never played COOP and think your the shit. The reality is you are not, you are the weak link bringing down your team.
I would never discourage any player from joining a RVS match but if you really want to improve? you simply must have the fundamentals down first, So throw in a COOP round when its early and you can play before the evening matches begin. it wont be long before you start seeing results.
after all it is as SV where you make your points in VSLast edited by ATEXANnHISGUN; 08-28-11 at 11:50 PM.

Re: A thread about me...
Honestly Ab1tar, the absolute fastest way to learn is to play with some of TPG's better teachers. Co-ops can teach you some basic physical skills like dealing with horde, but things like dealing with tanks and witches you probably won't learn much because there's not a true intelligence working against you. The AI isn't going to pull off coordinated hits to prevent you from getting by the witch, and the tank AI is so rediculously stupid that without a human SI team working with it the tank does very little.
I haven't played with you in awhile so can't really remember how you do, but I'll try and get with you sometime, see if there's not something I can help with. I'm not a great teacher....and probably not even a good one....but I can evaluate. I do, however, remember that you're not so new that you need to work on motor skills in campaigns. So hit me up, and we'll see what I can do to help.

Co-op may be a good thing to learn maps, but it is too easy to get through for the most part and you will get used to SI being nearly useless. Learn the basics on horde control and map locations, but that is all you can really get out of co-op. I never played it until someone challenged the VS folk to get the expert achievements in co-op. I (and several others) showed that VS players could do co-op equally or better than co-op only folk. Play a lot of VS and get used to actually getting hit a lot harder.

I agree with Morning. Seek out the best players you know for versus, hopefully get in their team, then listen to them and execute to the best of your ability. Don't take criticism too hard and try not to make the same mistakes again. I've been on teams with less experienced players, like Nihi, Mebad and Savage (all when they first started playing) and they performed amazingly well just by listening to the team leader and executing.
