A note on distance (just a small thing people sometimes get confused)
*** Each number represents a survivor ***
In this situation, player 3 is actually the farthest away. Although players 1 and 2 are the most spread apart, the line of sight between them is unbroken.
Why is line of sight important?
1) Sniper rifles don't care about how far away you are
2) If they can't see you, they have to tell their team where they are. This buys you extra seconds of damage.
He seems like a nice guy from my experiences with him. He is a bit quiet though.[/]

lol I love how you made a little diagram of it. Technically speaking player 2 is still farthest away, however, player 3 is most out of position, and likely to cause trouble for his team.
Keep in mind that if player 3 is highly skilled, and therefore unlikely to be 'capped, it may be advantageous to have him blocking spawns on the opposite side of that obstruction. It's a risk-reward trade off. Communication is, as always, key. If you are moving out of LOS of your team you MUST communicate your intentions.

I've been trying to always go for the most "out of position" SV in most recent games I've been playing. IT is also so critical to be in position to spawn to grab a straggler or an SV far ahead. So much can come from doing so, you just have to be aware of the situation and ready to separate the SV.

Personally I like hitting guys that tend to rush, who run just a *little* too far ahead of their team to get covered. If another SI hits a straggler in the back, you can often hit that lead guy hard when they turn around to try to sprint back.

Re: A note on distance (just a small thing people sometimes get confused)
I think a lot of people are guilty of moving ahead. I noticed I may end up out of position if I ever get distracted by something away from the computer.
I usually decide my hit based on the person in the worst position. Even then, it doesn't always lead to the best possible hit due to lack of communication on "who is hitting who." Another issue in any hit is a skill mismatch. I would not want a newer player trying to hunt Thorsen, it's simply not fair.
Back to the point of the post, positioning depends on who is where. If an extremely experienced player is in position 3, then I would worry more about the distance between 1 and 2. 2 seems to not be covering any spawns and he is a good distance away from 1. Although if a non experienced player is in position 3, then they are most likely out of position.

There's a difference between leaving the team and being too fast for them 8)
BUT, I'm getting better I promise. Also, if you put me and krom on the same team then it's not rushing ahead, it's just plain old rushingLast edited by Knee of Justice; 10-11-11 at 08:25 PM.
