Its my first QC too. So far:

Hotel
Transportation from and to the hotel (www.supershuttle.com -- use promo code 7K9PA for $3 off each way)
Laptop
Cash
QC Schedule of panels and such
Sites I want to see whilst in Dallas (buying tix now to find a good deal)
PMing for phone #s to get in touch with people when I get down there

The rest is up in the air and thats the fun of it.

wont it start back up in regular mode? never gone offline. but if i go offline it will stay that way?

No, its free to the public. but I believe theres still a registration process when you get there to get in.
