COMPLAINT: Kicked and Banned

Hello

Id like to start off by saying I love the BF2 server to death. Its my favorite and by far the best I've found since I started playing this game when it first came out.

I've always played by the rules and played as a team (except when flying of course) and loved every moment of it. I don't act like a retard as far as I know =) and even try to help out everyone by getting intentional tkers banned when there is no admin on by baiting them into tking ME a few times until the server nails em. I've brought all my friends and coworkers who play BF2 to the server and got them all hooked as well.My point is I think Im a pretty good model TTP citizen.

The reason Im even bothering posting this is because I love the server so much and I feel that Ive been unfairly "prosecuted".

So tonight Im playing as usual and my coworker's son comes to the server. I got him to start coming to the server last week and we've been fraggin ever since ;D. Well today his dad called in at my job for whatever reason and my boss asks me to find out if hes going to show up for work tomorrow and to cover his shift if hes not. He lives out in the boonies and all so his cell gets no reception out there. So a little while after his son comes on I remember all this and ask him

"can u ask your dad if hes going to show up for work tomorrow"
followed by...
"because I need to cover his shift if hes not"

and then I continue playing. Well about 20-30 seconds later BAM! I get kicked for the following reason:
"this is not a chatroom sir"
Not to mention I get booted before I even got an answer.

So obviously this pisses me off because I think being kicked for asking a simple question from someone is absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention that the answer to the question was extremely important. I can see justification if we were ACTUALLY CHATTING back and forth for awhile, but not for something that took me less then 10 seconds to type and would have taken about .5 seconds to answer. So anyways I wait for a minute before rejoining and then promptly type

"the fuck are you going to kick me for asking a simple yes or no question"

Yay! Then I get banned for:
"disrespecting an admin"

Come on guys. I understand backing each other up on your administrative decisions (I've been admin on many different servers for many different games) but I think banning me is quite a big step for a perfectly legitimate question. OK, I apologize for the "the fuck..." but not for the rest. Ive always disagreed with ego-bans ("disrespecting the admin") on my servers unless of course the player was being racist/sexist. I realize this is YOUR server, and we play by YOUR rules, but I don't think asking why the hell you've been kicked is disrespecting an admin. Nor do I think asking why you've been kicked (from your favorite server ever) should ever result in a ban.

This all happened around 8-8:05pm tonight and I have no idea who it was that banned me. I have no idea who ANY of the admins are. I dont think it really matters because I don't think you will take my side anyways but I really wanted to come let my complaint be known.

I apologize if any of this seems insulting because it's not meant to be. Like I said the only reason I'm so infuriated about this is because I love the server and everything it's about and not being able to play there pisses me off. Especially over something so damn trivial.

Its a 2 hour ban I dont need to request to be unbanned.

I was just stating my objection to what I think was a huge over reaction by an admin.

That's fair enough. First of all, welcome to the forums - it's unfortunate that it had to be under less than ideal circumstances, but I hope that you'll stick around and see what everyone here has to offer.

All of the administrators are held to much higher standards that most people think. If any admin in any game regardless of seniority abuses his or her position, you can expect them to face the music for what they've done. In this particular circumstance, however, I suspect that it was a case of the first admin having to deal with a lot of other problems at once, and seeing something broadcast over the chat that had nothing to do with the game may have rubbed them the wrong way. I personally may not have taken the same action given the circumstances, but that's their call to make, and well within the bounds of their responsibility to keep the server operating smoothly.

The second comment is what any admin on TTP would have banned for. I can understand your frustration, but things said in the heat of the moment still count - "the fuck are you going to kick me for asking a simple yes or no question" is not only disrespectful, but it undermines the authority of the admins on the server, who have a constant and difficult job of keeping all of the hackers/stat padders/general asshats in line. At this point, my inclination would be to accept that it was a two hour ban, and realize that these things can happen from time to time, for whatever reason. For now, look around the stickies and the other sections of the forums, and you may even want to read through some of the longer banned threads if you want to get an idea of how things operate on the server.

I agree as well. The kick for "chat room" was pretty sketchy, and I think the admin that did it was in the wrong. However to call that PERSECUTION or anything other than the admin doing his job as he sees the needs to do it is not only naive, but also rude.

For you to come back into the server, crying out "who the fuck did this and that"....

honestly man. If admins are the law....the cops of the server....and they do something to you.....what makes you think you have the right or priveledge to barge back in, make a scene, and start abusing the admin?

Do that shit when you get a ticket...regardless of if you ran that red light or not....and you're going to jail. And for what? All because you can't calm the fuck down, and be civil.

Lessons learned on both sides.

I want to know who the admin is that kicked you for "chatroom" whatever.

Before you start looking at the admins with dishonor let's set the record straight, and I am sure the admin will bring logs to back this up, but I was there at the time, so I will try to help. Spud gets on and he and his buddy are talking for a couple of minutes about non-game stuff. He then asks his buddy once or twice about his dad, but his buddy is too busy spamming about something else to notice. They both got warned to keep it game related, but kept talking. Because he still didn't get an answer he asked again. Then poof, they were both gone.

Hope this helps until the admin can get the logs.

like I said....a little quick to shut down chat messages, which are not only unnoticeable, but they hardly restrict gameplay or interfere with anything going on in game.

Like I said.....it was a bad kick.

but it was a great ban.

For one, I said prosecuted, not persecuted.

For two, I forgot that I typed it twice, and the only reason I did is because the first time I typed it it was gone almost the second I hit enter due to comm spam.

For three, I never saw the warning. If it appears where the kills do, I rarely look up there. My fault for that. But I was busy playing. Thats kind of the point, its why I see being kicked for typing a quick message to someone as being pretty "silly". I was in no way having a long drawn out chat with the guy. I said "HI KYLE" and a few minutes later I asked him about the whole work thing. CivilWars I dont know where you get off saying we were spamming and all that. Look at the log, does that look like spam? 2 of of them are while we were dead! Not to mention the whole time this went down I was on VOIP with my squad capping flags and such.

And finally, I apologized for cursing at whoever it was that kicked me, but I dont apologize for asking why. I honestly wasn't trying to make any sort of a scene, and the sentence sounds a lot worse than I meant it to be.

Anyways, I never meant for this to be a big issue, I just wanted to state my case and file a complaint about being kicked over a few lines of communication between me and a personal friend. Never meant to insult anyone or be insulted. Thank you for your time everyone.

I viewed his actions as not supporting his team; it’s nearly impossible to catch chat while in-game with all the stuff scrolling by. How is this behavior any different from spamming the chat with meaningless messages; which keep other players from seeing pertinent in-game information by other squad/team mates who have to type instead of having a mic.

There are many Chat programs available out there; Xfire, AIM, Yahoo. All of which allow you to communicate with someone.

My apologies for being a little over zealous. It's hard enough to get people to play as a co-ordinated team doing their best to support their respective teams and try to win.
