Thread: kicked while commanding

Hey All,

I'm a TTP 2142 semi-regular and die-hard teamplayer. Strongly encouraged teamplay is what keeps me coming back to the TTP servers, and the majority of the time I have a great experience, so thank you for the server and the community you've built up.

That being said, I was on the receiving end of some admin actions late friday afternoon which I think went too far. I'm not sure if it was the 2142 top5 server or the 2142 + NS server, and I'm also not sure who the admin was. I realize this may not be very helpful. My in-game nic is T.Bagwell

So here's the deal. The map was Highway Tampa AL, and I was commanding our side. The server was pretty full; our side had 9 squads as I remember it. We were winning 140 to 80 when somebody voted mutiny against me. I asked in team text chat "what's wrong, we're winning" and suddenly accusations start flying that I'm not commanding, which was total nonsense to say the least. On such a large & full map there are only so many asset drops to go around and they take a while to recharge. And managing orders on 9 squads can be a challenge, especially when some of them are ignoring you. I was using our assets to their fullest and spotting as many enemies as I could even outside of the sat-track sweep, and I was keeping UAV active on the forward-most attack order or defensive positions in jeopardy.

Some squads were given defense orders to hold CPs. Others (primarily those with tanks) were give attack orders. Some squad leaders apparently weren't happy with being given defend orders, but IMO such orders are necessary to win an assault lines map (if you want to cap the final point, that is).

So, I explained in the SL VOIP channel that some squads would need to defend capped points, and please obey existing orders (I even said please) and shortly thereafter I was kicked with admin decision - "not commanding". I opted not to immediately jump back in the server and complain as I didn't think that would be productive and I was near the end of my gaming time for the day anyways.

As a diehard teamplayer and fan of the TTP servers, I'm asking you to review your admin/kick policies for situations like this -- I think it is detrimental to your servers and your community to kick a commander in this type of situation. I was bustin' my hump to support my team and was met only with disrespect. Furthermore, I applied to command shortly after the start of the round when one of my teammates requested that someone command... in the previous round I was having a great time running gunner for a really talented gunship pilot (BurninBlunts, you out there?) and I would have been happy to continue doing so. My commanding was in the spirit of team play and I was doing nothing other than trying to help my team.

Anyways, thanks for reading and please think twice before kicking the commander of a winning team on a large map with 9 squads. I think it was pretty inappropriate and didn't benefit the team, the server, or the community in any way.

It's been at 5/6 for months now. I've been coming on regularly and playing every new mutation and I still haven't gotten my achievement. This is my very last L4D2 achievement and I would appreciate it if all of the new Mutations could count for this achievement as well.. I play on Xbox360, by the way.. Thank you.
