Thread: Server Administrative Complaint

Hi, my name is Carr. Since a few weeks ago, I've become kind of a regular on your Team Fortress 2 Teamwork Texas Players server because I get a lowping there and it's one of the few 24-man servers that promote teamwork. Up until this point I've played with a bunch of admins that were pretty chill, and promoted teamwork and kicked the idles, etc. etc.

Yet tonight, while waiting for the TF2 blog update, I decided to play some more on your server to pass the time. I had two of my friends join my game so we could play on the same team. Their names at the time were, "Rip Van Winkle" and "Ziggles :3". We were on Gravelpit and had lost the initial round due to the fact we weren't running a Medic. So I decided to play Medic for our team, and considering my friends and myself have competitive experience, we won the round pretty flawlessly except for losing B with me at the helm of Medic. I had the most points at the end of the round when it was 9v9 and I got forced autobalanced just at the very end. Whatever, that didn't really bother me.

Apparently though, at the same time of us playing in this Gravelpit round, an admin (Who explained to me that all Server Administrators are Anonymous) was constantly chewing out a player name, "Ghettobarney", about having bad teamwork. I didn't really see what he was doing wrong since I wasn't on his team, but apparently he was slacking off. This player was later kicked and banned after both of my friends we're a little disappointed that was I forced to the other team (imbalancing the 9v9 teams at the time, making it 10v8). Shortly afterwards of their sarcastic remarks they were both kicked at the first instigation.

While I will admit after Ziggles :3 got kicked, we may have instigated the Administrator's anger at that point. I feel that the Admin's actions we're uncalled for from the beginning. My friends we're kicked instantly for disagreeing with an Administrator's actions, as we felt that the Admin was merely not happy with the way the game was going. Which is a little ironic, since we won by playing as a team, on a server that promotes teamwork.

I was the admin in question tonight. My complaint was not until Ghetto and your friends started to act sarcastic to the warnings I gave through god chat.

Sarcasm is completely disrespectful and I was trying to get a few people in line. Before I had issues with your friends and Ghetto, I was dealing with a lonewolfing spy who refused to work with the team.

The kicks to your friends were in short due to admin disrespect, and do not require any of the warnings I gave.

Your friends did 2 things to warrant this, first Ziggles' sarcastic remarks earned his kick.
Then Rip comparing the admins to a horrific clan with a history of abuse finally solidified his kick. I'm not going to comment on Ghetto's since he has his own post.

In all honesty, I should have thrown you out with the rest of them for your comment in this fiasco. There is always a reason behind the kicks I give and I follow the rules of TTP to the letter. Your friends were being very disrespectful when I was trying to do my job as an admin.

Your team did work very well together, however the other team was not which is why the player was switched at the end of the round. Once switched, another of your players left leaving you guys down 2. There wasn't really anything to do about it since autobalance took care of it. If you guys had stopped commenting and being sarcastic to god chat, there wouldn't of been a problem.

They were only kicks so you guys are free to reconnect, but just know that just because you can be a dick to admin chat with one admin, doesn't mean you can do it to all of them.

In all honesty, I should have thrown you out with the rest of them for your comment in this fiasco. So you should've thrown him out because he was concerned about why an admin was blatantly abusing his power? There is always a reason behind the kicks I give and I follow the rules of TTP to the letter. Your friends were being very disrespectful when I was trying to do my job as an admin. Not a very good job, mind you.

I appreciate the reply, but the only reason my friends and I were being sarcastic/etc. is we thought I was being forced to autobalance, which from looking at the console it says you killed me with "player" then I got immediately autobalanced just as the rounds ends. To be honest, we didn't think the admin would have taken such great offense to a sarcastic remark concerning that, especially since we really hadn't done anything wrong up until that point.

Imagine joining a random server where one of your friends gets kicked for doing something miniscule. Wouldn't you be a little frustrated with the said Administrator, who is anonymous and apparently gets offended over very small things said over the internet?

I'm not asking for an apology, and I appreciate that you didn't ban us. I just wanted to let you know that as being an administrator for the [ESG] servers myself, I felt that you went a little overboard with an instant kick over a single, negative comment.

The being team switched was probably the admin attempting to even out the team balance skill wise, that way the game could be much more enjoyable for the whole server instead of one team just getting steam rolled and all of them rage quitting, which we don't want.

Just remember in the future, never talk back to an admin or question his actions while in game, that is what this forum is for.

And in all honesty, Ghetto is the kind of trash we remove more than twice a bakers dozen a day in each of the games we host. They detract from the enjoyment of the other players and cause problems for everyone. But your association with him will not get you banned unless you are partaking in his griefing other players and the admins.

All I'm going to say is, your servers are a great place to play at, and most of the people I've met on your servers as well as the Texas clan players are nice to hang out and play with. I do think that your admistrative rules are a little too much when it comes to disagreeing with an administrator. It seems that you are not able to debate anything you might consider "abusive" against you if it's done by an Admin.

If the Administrator in question had just told us the reason why my friend was kicked, then this never would have escalated into a huge forum fiasco thread created about what happend earlier tonight. While I wasn't in the right as stated by your rules after the Admin kicked my friend, maybe that is a sign that your administrator system is flawed. All the Administrator had to have said was, "Hey can you not be so sarcastic? Thanks." and I assure you we would have changed our attitude or simply left the server instead of instigating it further.

Must you really warrant a kick just to get your point across over a simple piece of sarcasm? That's really what pissed my friends and myself off the most.
