Not very nice behavior of an Admin/Moderator - (4)manno

Okay, here goes for better or for worse. Last night I was playing BF2 and on a couple of occasions I volunteered to Command as there was no interest on our team to do this. This happens a lot on the server these days and someone has to step up and do it so why not. Now most of you have known me for years and I am usually a pretty descent CO and team player.

So we get to the Karkand map and I am commanding the US side and trying to help around 7 squads of varying size take and hold flags. We are doing okay but behind on points. I am responding to requests from various SL as best one can. Following requests I am dropping supplies at various points and then all of a sudden (4)manno, who is SLing, comes over the mic and tells me that I should only be dropping supplies to assets (FYI, at this stage (4)manno is in our tank). This is indeed appropriate but I am responding to requests from SLs and dropping the supplies where they request or where I anticipate the need, as a CO should do. I respond to (4)manno comment by saying that I am doing my best here and responding to the needs of the team as I see it from the visuals (scans, UAV, visual assessment of the tactical assessment). Suddenly (4)manno launches into a tirade against me, shouting and swearing like crazy. (4)manno tells me I should be taking his criticisms of my CO job. In short, obviously (4)manno thinks I am doing a crap job of commanding. Nevertheless, I respond calmly but the crap out of (4)manno's mouth continues unabated. Oh well I think. Perhaps (4)manno has a bad day or something I don't know. I remind (4)manno that this is only a game...and that doesn't seem to help. In the end we lose the map but it was a good fight.

So fastforward and I end up going to the other team after I restart my system (firing bug). I see that (4)manno is taking on the command role, and he does a good job of it, as his team is winning some maps. However, on the Kubra Dam map I notice that while (4)manno is commanding he is also in the thick of the fighting, which given the server is full just isn't on (fighting commander?). Moreover, I notice that (4)manno is on the hill above construction with his AT kit firing the odd shot in the spawn area while the US chopper does a funneling attack. All during this time (4)manno - who criticized me like crazy about where I was dropping supplies in a very abusive manner - is himself dropping supply crate after supply crate on his own position. I am thinking, whatever happened to his line about only using supply crates for the teams assets???

The bottom line, this is a game and we are all suppose to have fun. The admins/moderators I thought were there to encourage team play and not just go off on people with a foul mouth. Hence, my concern over (4)manno's conduct.

Like I said at the start of this thread, I have been playing on the server for some time and I can only think of a few occasions where it has been unpleasant due to the negative behavior of certain ill tempered individuals. Perhaps (4)manno had a bad day at work or something, I don't know. I am willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt but I am not prepared to have someone tell me repeatedly to go F-myself just because I volunteered to command. This is just not on. I feel that an apology is clearly warranted.

I look forward to hearing from the admins/moderators on this, especially (4)manno.

This is hardly an admin\mod issue.

manno is rough on commanders, but this sounds more harsh than usual. im going to assume he was just real mad and let his anger control him too much this time. but i do agree that commanders shouldnt be berated at this point in the game, tough enough getting one for the start of a round im sure.

could have been worse though, coulda been vis asking you for the 434593857 vehicle drop of the round and him expecting it immediately. ;)

If someone is willing to step up and command then the game is in their hands as well are all the assets. Remind your SL's that they didn't step up you did. When i have issues like that they get orders on where to go and when to do it. That is the about the only time i issue orders. You are correct it is only a game but that does not mean you have to listen to someones shit the whole round. I only have your side of the story so manno can choose to speak for himself or not speak at all. The decision you need to make is do you feel it was a case of abuse or a case of a bad day which we all have from time to time.

Actually if ark wishes to push this issue forward it would be an admin/mod abuse issue as per rule 4 for bf2.

    Arkoudaki,

Can you recall any other regulars that were on the server at this time and may have seen/heard what happened? I realize that this has taken place between commander and squad leaders, so not too many may be privy to what occurred, but any additional information into this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Actually, unless 4 Manno was using his admin status to sway anything, I don't see the reason this is over here. From what I've read, nothing says that 4 Manno in any way used his Admin powers to accomplish anything. So unless there were threats of admin action, I cannot see any reason for this to be a valid claim of abuse.

This is true, but where then does a player report possible admin misconduct?

Re: Not very nice behavior of an Admin/Moderator - (4)manno

    Hi Guys,

There were a number of regs on last night like Loki, BadPrimer...however, I think this may be taken the wrong way. I am not looking to make this into some sort of big issue but I just think (4)manno was out of line, that's all. And it wasn't that (4)manno was misusing any admin position he has (heck, I didn't even know he had become an admin until I checked the forum).

Like I said, perhaps (4)manno just had a bad day or something but what he was doing was just not on, plain and simple. I would never go and tell the CO or SL to go F-himself like that, especially for no good reason. Like a lot of us, I get online to play the game to unwind and I certainly don't need some guy/girl unloading on me for the heck of it...as it is a GAME. I am still waiting for (4)manno to come back on this.
