Nice Idea for smoker
Once again, another idea by me which may or may not be in the right area...
I just thought of an idea that would make the smoker much more fair:
When dragged by a smoker to a ledge that can cause a bit of damage(NOT guaranteed death situations, which cause a ledge-grab situation), the survivor begins fighting back, keeping his/herself above the ledge by running the opposite direction.
Notes:
-After a period, the survivor will lose power and give into the smoker's pull.
-Survivor still takes damage, but can be saved more easily.
-Will only happen if survivor is in the green(or yellow, depending on difficulty) HP area, or they will fall normally.
-Will give into smoker's pull much easier on Versus mode.
-After hitting yellow(or red, depending on difficulty) HP, the survivor will give into the smoker pull.
So, what do you think? Please give me advice and ideas or this.

I think it's a terrible idea and once you're constricted you shouldn't be able to even grab a ledge. If you're pulled over when your arms are wrapped, you should fall and die. The smoker has low enough health and makes enough noise and even has a smoking aura to alert you to his location that even if you're smoked often, you should be cleared quickly. The smoker isn't unfair to survivors, it's unfair to infected that he's so weak and survivor arms are magically freed upon falling off a ledge. My advice to you is to be more aware and kill zombies faster.

This.
Survivors are already given a brief pause before they are completely constricted to attempt to shoot the smoker to free themselves. In fact, if a smoker pulls a survivor that's in front of him and said survivor has a decent enough weapon, the smoker usually loses.
If smokers are to be changed at all, I would perhaps increase his damage output and tongue length. There's no need to completely change the way a survivor reacts to being snared.Parlock: I'm sorry, I'm an idiot who can't read XD.Teenracer6: I hate salt, it's too salty.Parlock: Taking in TP's sweet, sweet buttsweat didn't make me gag

A few things i would like changed with the smoker.
One be able to reel survivors in by hold the the primary attack button. That way you can choose how much drag you get. Somtimes you might just want to give them a lil pull instead of a big drag.
Remove commons abilty to stop a pull by getting in the way. MAking reeling in more effective depending on the situtation.
And let the smoker smoke reduce melee fatigue and run speed to zero for 25 seconds if you happen to inhale it.

I agree about reeling survivors in... I expected the Smoker tongue to be like a fish pole at first. It's still a good concept, just could be a little better.

Agreed and,
There is a bug, only present in L4D 1 I think, where the smoker will be instantly killed if you shoot it when the tongue hits you. It doesn't matter what weapon you use, how much damage you deal, any damage dealt at all when the tongue touches you instantly dispatches it. I don't think it works in versus or in L4D 2.
A good way to train yourself up against smokers is to play on advanced or expert mostly. They react almost instantly on those modes so you get into a habit of taking them out instantly, instead of having several seconds of grace period before he attacks. Most versus smokers that I've seen are actually slower than expert/advanced smokers, because if a human smoker shoots its tongue too early - it misses. They actually have to wait a half second or so for the circle to go red.[s]L4D - PC & Xbox 360[/s]
