Murphy does need to do his own request, for our records. I'll standby to approve you both together.
We're always glad to have another (or two) big-tex members.

Rumormill - are they closing the l4d servers?
So, I was playing last night with some old friends I have not had the pleasure with for some time, when we were in the lobby, I heard a 'rumor' that Valve were to close the l4d1 servers soon (we were on xbox)...
Apparently due to the upcoming DLC porting over the campaigns, thus seemingly rendering the first game useless?
He said it was only a rumor, but I'm just wondering if anyone else had heard this or knew anything else about it?
Personally, I play more l4d2, but think it's unfair if they did close them, and the only reconciliation would be to either give out free/discounted copies of l4d2, and to have a 'l4d1 mode' included in the DLC.
As I said, it's only a rumor, but what if....?

Valve wouldn't drop L4D. CS1.6 is "useless" now that Source has come out.
I'm an idiot and I can't follow directions. So now I'm also banned.

So this is still making the rounds around the lobbies eh?
To be honest, if they removed the dedicated servers it wouldn't be too much of an issue. You can still host locally, and everyone usually has one or two friends that can hold 8 people.
I doubt they'll remove the servers just because L4D2 is getting the DLC but I've wondered about it too. I'll think they'll continue to support the game on the Xbox for at least a couple of more years, but we'll see.

I'd be utterly devastated if they did: I've never played in a local server that's been capable of carrying 8 players with no serious lag.

Besides, I thought the dedicated servers were ran by Microsoft for Xbox, not Valve? O_O

Adam: Well you obviously have to have a friend with FIOS or something. Those people will be hugely popular once the servers do shut down obviously.
I guess it is harder for you guys in the UK to find a buddy like that. You guys deal with horrible lag all of the time anyway. The servers over there are crap, and the round trip to ours is so long. -,-
We play on local servers a lot, it is the only way you can play a game of Crash Course without knowing where every item and witch and tank is going to spawn.
Parlock: Valve maintains the servers for the Xbox versions of the game.
