Thread: TPG, help me fix this script!

It's a standard windows program that maps joystick buttons to keyboard buttons to do something you couldn't do with a normal keyboard and mouse, in order to replace $30 controller that does something you can't do with a normal keyboard and mouse. If Valve wants to patch joystick turning, that's fine by me. I actually used to think they were going to, but they've left it for so long now that I doubt it will be change. But until then I don't see why I need to use a 360 controller to do it.
And yet we still catch people. Especially ones that create threads admitting to creating such scripts. You painted your own target on your back on this one.
If I had created a cheat, I wouldn't have made a thread. I made a thread to share a legitimate script and ask for some help testing.
You might be able to use a 360 controller to perform these actions but not with a keyboard and mouse straight out of the box. Just play the game as it was intended and know now that this is your only warning not to use this on a TPG server.
One of the things that make games like TF2 and Quake so great is that they are so customizable. Most games these days don't give the player that much control over their interface, and that's a real loss.Last edited by Derek; 06-20-12 at 09:09 PM.

That's when he was excommunicated for having a VAC ban, but before that...he admitted to using macros on his keyboard (while he was an admin) and was banned and stripped of his admin abilities (insanegammer109)

I really dont care whats allowed in leagues, tournaments, fn professional TF2 matches. Im telling you whats allowed on TPG property and its not this. If you want to use this turning to have an advantage over players that are playing the game out of the box, go buy a controller because thats the only way its going to be legal here.

Its not just TPG that hates these things other clans and gamers hate this... Why play with something that gamers frown upon....
Just play the game like it suppose to and be better that way

Re: TPG, help me fix this script!
TPG is a little touchy about the word "script," so the best practice is to just stick with your traditional gamer gear and be the best that you can be without scripts. While it's true that you can perform the same action with a joystick versus using a script with a keyboard, it's frowned upon becausethe particular action you are trying to perform was not intended to be allowed by Valve in the first place (look back when they attempted to nerf the turn command solely because of the demo-knight problem). Other times, TPG follows a few simple rules when deciding whether to allow scripts when they are brought up in the forums, which is usually done on a case-by-case basis:
- Does it perform multiple actions with a single keystroke (e.g. a Rocket-Jump script).
- Does it perform an action that the developer considers illegal (e.g. a Demo-Knight turning script).
- Does it give an unfair advantage over those who don't use the script (e.g. a Rapid-Firing script).
Hopefully that answers any other questions you may have about scripts.

I expect the majority of TPG regulars have a script violate one of these rules (especially the first one). I know one in particular who has an Ambassador zoom script (would probably fall under number three). The thing is, you can't tell who is using these scripts and who isn't, unless they actually admit to it, which makes these rules basically unenforceable. Although if you did ask them, most probably would tell you.

Re: TPG, help me fix this script!
They're not rules, per say, more just guidelines I thought fell in line with past decisions that were made. If people are violating these guidelines, there's nothing we can do to catch them other than keep a watchful eye out. Also, as I said, scripts are usually evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Also, using catch-all phrases such as "the majority" doesn't mean anything. If people are using scripts, then that's up to their judgement. If we find they're creating an atmosphere of gameplay that is unfair, we'll bring the discussion into the forums (much like this) and solve the issue.

I think this topic needs to be locked..
Scripting is bad if your going to find a way to cheat the system then you won't be here very long..
