Thread: Anti-Ghosting

I just noticed today when connecting that the anti-ghosting feature has been turned on for the server. For those of you not familiar with what this is, I will explain. When two people from the same IP adress connect to a server it will blind one of them if they die and the other person is left alive.

As you know, Freakangel and I live together and connect from the same IP. The anti-ghosting feature means that when either of us is dead we get to stare at a black screen for 15 seconds. This is not amusing at all. I can understand why this feature might be needed in Counterstrike but this isn't Counterstrike. I haven't heard of or seen anyone doing any sort of ghosting however so I don't see it being an issue.The only time it might even make a difference is during Sudden Death.

I am asking that his feature be turned off, as I don't see ghosting being an issue in this game.

I have the same complaint for the same reasons listed above. It is really annoying/boring to stare at a black screen for 15-20 seconds every time you die (I die a lot). Also, it makes it pretty difficult to figure out what is going on with your team, which makes the game a lot less fun.

I don't see turning it off as a problem. Ghosting is completely pointless in TF2.

Also, it's not an issue at all in sudden death since even after you die you can't view the other team.

Exactly. Which means the only information you can relay to someone if you are ghosting is how your team is doing. Which in my opinion enforces the teamplay aspect of the game.

Is there a proper place for me to request that this feature be changed? Should I put up a poll or contact an admin about it? I know that the way TTP works is by consensus and I don't want to selfishly request this even though I think I am one of the few people it affects.

I confirmed today with Freakangel that the Anti-Ghosting feature has been disabled. Thank you very much for changing this setting. It makes my enjoyment of the server much greater and also helps promote teamplay.
