Server Stability

Has anyone noticed that the server has been increasingly unstable here lately? Last night 3 maps in a row, it froze mid-map and when I was able to reconnect the server was barely populated. I saw this on the 2142 server yesterday as well. I just got so frustrated I gave up trying to play.

The admins know about this and are working on fixing it.

On the bright side, I notice that the maps we default to after the crashes are being rotated. The first map was Tampa, then it was Suez, which use to be one of my favorite maps but after playing it about a dozen times in a row I was happy to see the server defaulting to Shubia. I look forward to being able to play for four or five games with the server fully populated and no lag or crashes. I get frustrated enough, too, that I just quit playing but I have faith that it will only get better. It seems to me that the crashes are keeping the die-hard regs playing, and chasing away the drop-in players; I am kinda enjoying getting to team up with some players that I hardly ever get to see in a squad. The smaller population seems to make the teams more personal, and that won't last long...

if you're refering to the 2142 server. this is the TF2 server :P

Thanks HocusPocus, I was just responding to info that I saw posted about BF2142 and did not notice that this was the BF2 forum. Not the first time though that I have gotten confused about that.... I've got to stop doing that... sorry to clutter up your pages.

I was getting disconnected for random reasons last night to. Like I was timed out right when i was playing and walking around, and also something about couldn't verify something. My computer also let me know my half life 2 wasn't responding, in the middle of a game. Probably something on my computers part though. Windows vista FTL!!!

Hey now, don't dis Vista, it is a very good OS. I haven't had any problems that don't have easy solutions (other than some of the issues with 64 bit, but that is 64-bit not Vista).

Your problem Youngblood is you probably need to run Steam and TF2 as administrator. The random disconnects w/o getting the HL2 error might be the server as I heard of number of people were having similar problems last night, although I never did.

i can't join TTP's tf2 server on vista,the intro screen locks my game up. Could be the music or could be the starting page.. i dunno because all my other servers don't have that problem. weird.. TTP server has so many problems.. makes me a sad panda

...I don't understand why you immediately jump to the operating system being at fault. There are many things that could have caused this... in fact, the disconnects could be the server and have nothing to do with your machine at all.
