... The half life engine was based on the quake 2 engine, as in used the code, did it not?

TF2 would likely be worth checking out... I find any games that use the same engine tend to have a similar feel in gameplay. It usually takes me a bit to start to master a new FPS engine, regardless of similarity in game type. TF2 is seriously fun! I'm thinking of going the opposite way myself, and finally checking out CSS. I've had it for ages, but never actually booted it up.

TF2 is crazy, crazy fun. That's pretty much all there is to it! Try it out, you won't be disappointed.

According to this, Source is a great-grandchild to Quake.

Anybody remember this? I actually never played TFC much but I played TF for a little while.

In fairness though, Source was almost completely re-written... I seriously doubt any of the Quake/QuakeWorld code still exists in the code base. Half-Life was very definitely a direct descendant from Quake though.

TF2 is definitely worth it. I think Orange box is $37 roughly on Steam right now. For all the single player games included and having TF2 you really can't go wrong.

I've been playing a lot recently where if I make one mistake (don't come in in time), in a couple of seconds people are already trying to kick me, right when we start the game. At the end of the game, after having the most points as infected the entire time, just because I mess up as the tank doesn't mean I suck, I just messed up. I'm pissed off with these elitists who think they're pro at L4D and L4D2. I'm looking for some people who play L4D1 and/or L4D2 on PC to play some casual games. I don't use a mic, but I always listen and respond via text. If anyone wants to add me, my steam Steam Community :: ID :: andrew
