Well (CTF) - should it stay or should it go?

Personally, I dont know why Valve gave us this torture chamber of a map...it seems too big for the hectic CTF action that 2Fort has and as much as I'd rather not play 2Fort sometimes, Well CTF sucks the life out of me even more.

I say can it from the rotation...with the introduction of Badlands and Gold Rush, we dont need Valve's re-labeled horse-caca.

As further evidence of its horridness, I was playing a few days ago and an admin (I think I know who, but won't say in case I'm wrong) flat out changed the map when Well (CTF) loaded - no vote, no poll, nothing - he knew it sucked and hurt connections so he change it. Bravo to him.

What do you think?

automated map voting takes care of managing the mapcycle. As soon as Ewok gets it loaded into lonestar, then this issue is dead.

votes are votes...if people don't want to play it, then they won't vote for it, and it won't get played. That, or it does get played, and you are in the minority.

wouldn't be the first time...and you are correct. Automated map votes will fix the problem.

TTP is about playing the game the way it was meant to be played and without CTF and/or just well, would be against what valve wanted, play it, enjoy it, and live with it.

I really do want to know what Valve's reasoning was to throw that map in there. I personally think they felt TF2 was getting a bit stale so they added the flags and the new ramps around the 2nd pts and threw it out there without testing the actual flow of the map. It truly is too big, this isnt BF2 where it takes you 5 min to run across the map. If they moved the flag up to each team's 2nd pt, I think it would play for a better map. Thats just my opinion.

The map vote helps to remedy the boring situation though thats for sure...

It's informal.

Normally it takes the form of an admin asking in god-chat if the players want a new map, and if it's overwhelming yes in chat, then a map suggestion is offered back over god-chat. The players can type in their yes/no to let the admin know what they think.

Not exactly democratic, but it's at least something.
