    i have this achievement and im honestly not sure how i did it. im pretty sure it doesnt matter if your ubered first or after you get on the point as long as you take every1 of the enemies out while your doin in

    The way I understood it, you had to block them from capping it, not kill everyone on it. Maybe this is where the confusion comes from.

    So last night I was googling around on some of the details of the achievements and I saw a few mentions of some map called "Achievementbox" so I went to the server browser and sure enough, there is a map called "Achievementbox".

    It's a big square room with a red spawn, a blue spawn, a couple walls in between them and instant respawn timers...

    The floor is covered in ammo boxes and heath coolers and on two oposite corners there are cap points, one each, red and blue...

    How it works is that whoever is hosting the map, idles on the server and their character continuously respawns...say - you need the 50 bonesaw kills on a medic achievement...stand there and bonesaw the medic as he spawns endlessly...

    Need the "Assist another medic in killing 5 enemies" achievement, heal a buddy while he kills the endlessly respawning medic over and over...

    ding dong ding, you have achievements.

    THe server I went to was chaos, there were heavies mowing everybody down and spies backstabbing medics and engineers building all over the place.

    Somehow just by screwing around in what was basically a deathmatch server, I got 2 achievements and my first unlock...it happened so fast, I dont even know what they were, I was healing a medic who was trying to kill heavies and I got that "Assist another medic in 5 kills" dealie... lol.

    It was insane.

    If you want a laugh, look for a map called "achievementbox". Its hilarious.

    Lame, hopelessly lame, but hilarious none the less.

    I checked this out and consultant is right.

    just an achievement whore factory.

    are we going to have a stance on playing that map? seems lame as hell.. but if it's legit it 's legit?

    I don't know how i feel about it. on one hand great way to get achievements fast ( still lame) but on the other it takes away from those who are truly trying to get them through skill ( all of us at TTP )

    definitely would like an admin's decision on this.

    Its like a deathmatch server and IMHO, its similar to stat-padding on BF2.

    Valve hasnt come out against it but I would discourage my friends from doing it, which is awkward, because I messed around with it last night and benefited from it. (Ask my new Syringe Gun...)

    The easiest thing for Valve to do is to set it up so achievements gained on custom maps dont count some how...but that wont make a difference because motivated lamers will load up 2Fort or Dustbowl and run the same train.

    Only difference is that there is no gate blocking access to the spawning enemies on this whore map...

    I dont know but I would guess that the admins of TTP have better things to do than to check the server history of every medic they see with the uber-saw...I may be wrong, but I dont see what the difference is.

    I have a little less respect for myself after getting a tainted achievement last night, but that will wear off as soon as the new gun saves me from a pyro or takes out a heavy, lol.

    I see where this could be a problem but the thing is it is nearly impossible to do some of these achievements in a normal game. Especially on TTP where teamplay is very important.

    If i saw a medic ubering a scout over anything else I would flip out (which has happened before) or a medic with an uber not using it and getting killed cuz hes trying to get his achievement I would also flip out (also happened before on ttp).

    The bottom line in my opinion is that some of these achievements are just not designed to be done on a hardcore teamplay server like TTP.

    Coji makes a good point...if the dedicated medics can spend an hour grinding achievements on one of these custom maps and it spares the rest of us the pain of watching stuff like Coji mentions, I'm all for it personally.

    Of course, it will make you gay and we will all publicly question your skillz, but if you can handle it...more power to ya.

    We can't police the world; we can only police our server.

    If people go onto other servers to grind achievements, we (in a practical sense) can't do anything about it. What we can control is what people do on the TTP server, and here achievements are always secondary to playing with the team, as I'm sure everyone here knows.

    My personal opinion is that I could care less if people go onto other servers to get achievements. I personally don't think TF2 is a game where weapon kits should be tied to achievements. I mean, you have 9 roles freely available to whoever, why all of a sudden are there "special weapons" you have to earn, which are not better, but are different? That's exactly what the classes are: roles that are not better, they are different, and have different pros/cons depending on the situation. Sure I can understand the marketing behind it, but I don't think it fits the game. If all of a sudden everyone had every unlock on the TTP server, that's fine by me because the game then goes back to what it was: a role based game where it doesn't matter what you have, it matters how you use it. Except we can't sacrifice our sever in order for people to grind for these achievements, so if your going to grind, do it elsewhere, so the server stays a team-playing environment.

    I think they are using TF2 and its diverse community to test the concept of having MMO elements in a traditional FPS game.

    Its like Planetside - Lite.
