This is correct. Stats are not based only off of kill:death ratio. ALL of your stats are taken into consideration.

Actually, Sammus, I don't think that's correct. Not on Psychostats. It uses the ELO algorithm to calculate skill, which determines that based on the skill of the person you kill or that killed you.
Psychostats FAQ describes how skill is calculated from kills and deaths:

No, Medics are disadvantaged. Every time I mostly play Medic I drop in skill pretty significantly. Still, I mostly play Medic (as evidenced by my deaths as Medic under Roles) and am currently ranked 103. I'll be pretty ecstatic if I can ever break top 100.

who the hell cares about stats? I can whore up numbers just by having people stand next to my dispenser.

    stats are pointless

    :)

Stats are just something cool to look at once in awhile to see one way in which you compare to other players on the server.

It would be cool if medic stats were adjusted differently, but in the mean time I just like to think I had a small hand in getting all my other teammates that much farther up the ranks :)

To answer your question, TTP asks to see your Psychostats when you request a reserved slot, and TTP Clans ask to see your Psychostats when you apply for membership. I'm sure they're understand the skew if you explain that you mostly play Medic, tho.

Also, aside from the anti-Medic bias, the ELO algorithm is actually quite a nifty way to see how well you're playing. They use it in chess to crown grand masters and such.

Yeah it is interesting to look at every now and then. Its the people that only care about stats that are a problem. The only stat that should matter is your W/L record.

TTP asks for your Psycho Stats so they can see how much time you have spent in their servers and how many times youve been kicked/banned. They arent looking to see how many times you've 'pwnd n00bz'.

I stand corrected. I don't know why I didn't know this because I've looked it up before. The problem is that the Elo system was apparently designed for chess where they don't have a lot of medics. It appears to be using statistics to calculate your skill based on who you kill and their skill. It does nothing with the medic data. Pretty fuckin weak. Perhaps we should write our own system :P

It dosent affect you in game or anything, It's just a neat way to check how many kills you've gotten, and such, and you get a cool icon next to your account 8)
Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
    Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"

Re: why are medics shafted by the stats?

^This. Yeah, it doesn't affect how I play. I play to win; I'm not worried about KDR. But the next day at work I check psychostats to see what it says about how I played. I like it. It's kinda cool. But yeah, it's a bit frustrating to have torn it up as Medic, and yet your skill level went way down because your KDR was 0.5. It's not going to stop me from going Medic, but it is a pretty glaring error in the algorithm.
