Heh, pretty sure that was me you were sniping against. If I recall, we ended up facing off a lot either last night or the night before.

I definitely agree with y'all about people switching to the classes when someone else already has it covered. I don't really know what goes through people's heads when they see someone topping the board as sniper or spy and decide to clog the class. "I know! I'll make his job harder by drawing the other team's attention to him!" Teams should pretty much always have exactly one sniper, and either one or no spies, depending on map, class balance, and situation.

My last article attempt was eaten by school (Yeah, it's reading week; long posts tend to happen when I'm on break.), so I'm hesitant to make any commitments. I'll see what I can do about gathering screenshots, though - if I can get good ones, I'll see what I can do about article-izing, if you all think my random thoughts are worth turning into something printable.

I would like to point out that I call out enemy snipers all the time (and medics and everything else) and some random jackass bitches at me.

[sarcasm]My favorite, and I mean favorite thing as a sniper is when my teammates just run in front of me blocking my view or when a douche bag pyro has his flame constantly going on me so the flames block anything I might see. Oh, or maybe when you're trying to edge around the corner to take out an engy and his turret, then McDouche, the idiot heavy, walks right up, makes the turret fire the missiles, his fat ass somehow dodges them, and I, the sniper, eat rockets for dinner.[/sarcasm]
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

And, last night, my team called out the enemy sniper. I take him out twice in a row while trying to get shots in on the enemy team to prevent them from building up. I don't get him the third time, and then my team complains that I'm not taking out the enemy sniper...

whatever Menoske said about switching classes because of noobs

this is why I believe in meritocracy for support classes (aside from medic); the only thing I appreciate these people for, actually, is when I'm trying to countersnipe, and they run in front of me, so I duck and hide and wait a sec for the person I was countersniping in the first place to kill them, and then I pop out and (hopefully) kill that other sniper and proceed to shoot other people in that sniper's respawn time....

also sniper is like the fallback class... I feel like if you're on a team where you're fighting our on the front a lot and your team's not doing well, a lot of people think "ok, well, snipers stay back and shoot, I'll try that since I'm not doing as well in normal combat" and then you get like 4 snipers who obviously haven't realized that there are usually other, more effective snipers on their teams.... I know some servers place a limit on how many of one class people can have, maybe that's something TTP will start doing...? (it does happen a lot, unless the regulars are around)

Hunh. I disagree with class restrictions in general, but it might well help the problem....

If more people were like Langrad, the world would be a much louder and better-informed place.

But would it be worth all the tears?

As sniper I can't hit a heavy who has his minigun in use while undisturbed. Therefore my objective in TF2 is to make other snipers lives more miserable.

A bit off topic, but speaking of restrictions, why do the TF2 servers usually cap off at 22/24 :?

Seriously? Those are a sniper's bread and butter targets. The only trick is not to let them get a bead on you before you put a round through their skull.

I don't consider myself that good of a sniper, but heavies make up most of my easy kills whenever I do end up sniping.

Re: Snipers: Not Just Each Other's Problem Anymore

Snipers are my favorite victims when playing Pyro. As long as the other team isn't paying too much attention to their flanks, I can usually sneak up and get a satisfying axe kill on them.

I never, ever play Sniper, because my aim with semi-auto weapons is terrible.
