Re: So like..
Took Cojiro's advice and ran with Medic for a bit, topped out a 134 score for my team a lil bit earlier ;p That was fun!
On the whole though, it's still very confusing ><
Things like - who to heal first? I try and stay on the heavy/soldiers, and then the moment I switch away to heal someone on fire, my heal target inevitably dies straight away ><
I did a fair bit of Medic on that one game, so after a couple of rounds of Medic on the next map, I switched to Scout and I don't think people liked that. If you're Medic, are you supposed to stay Medic forever? oO Is there some kind of TF2 etiquette here I'm not aware of? Medic didn't seem to be working so great on that map, so I thought we could use some more offense, but 'parently not ;p
Anyway, lots of fun, good buy ;p

Soldiers are good too. If you can, stick with the high scoring players. Really, the best people to heal are the ones who are doing the best, but if someone needs some health, heal him, then find a better target.
Tell you're team if your switching from Medic. Most people don't like to play Medic, which I frankly don't get, so you just gotta tell them before you switch. And anyway, a bad Medic is a lot more helpful then a bad Scout.
Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"

Re: So like..
you can switch classes around all you want
the only etiquette you have to worry about is if you already have an assload of X class and you are short Y class, consider going to the Y class instead of X.
If you are the only medic try not to leave your team high and dry but if somebody gives you shit you can always tell them to stop being a greedy bastard and play medic themselves or shut their mouth.

Re: So like..
The only etiquette is to give your team a heads up you are switching, normally asking "hey can someone else take medic a bit? I need a break" is more than enough to get someone to carry the healing load. It works with regs, pubs may or may not respond. Understand this is a teamplay server, if people are being douchebags (5 scouts, or not listening to calls) open chat and type "@ blah blah blah" (blah being your complaint) and an admin will come square things up.
As far as healing goes, the devil's in the details. You can play it simple and strap yourself to a heavy or badass soldier (youll get to know who they are quickly) or try to work more offensive/defensive strategy. If youre on defense (conservative, build and hold ubers as long as you can) youll want to position yourself and play differently than when youre playing offense (agressive, maybe play kritz depending on how many meds you have). On defense I will usually stay with a demo or pyro (with airblast!) to protect engi points. On O I seek out soldiers, demos, or gideon to push the objective, heavies once the push is established. These arent hard set rules, every map has its little nuances but its a good place to start. Listen to the vets, they will help you out.
Some basic rules for medding:
1. Always heal another med first, keep each other buffed when you cross paths.
2. Try to buff everyone possible.
3. Never stand still, constantly turn around. Spys and snipers are everywhere!
4. Communicate! You dont have the tunnel vision most offensive classes have, tell people whats going on. Really important ones are "[X class] spy", "scout or pyro behind", "stickies around that corner", and "someone shoot that fucking sniper at [X location]".
5. Never die with an uber, even if its a "waste" burn it to save your own life.
6. Never take a corner or drop first, sticky traps are not your friends. Let the bullet pushers do the dying for you, you can warn your next heal target.
6. Never turn and run from a pyro, run backwards and blutsauger them to death. Same with scouts.
7. If youre healing a soldier and hear "HID IT, HID IT, HID IT" dont worry, hes not partially retarded from a tractor accident, hes just... excitable.

Re: So like..
Know how to detect spies, with the recent pussification of the class there will be more then normal. A spy is anyone you cant run through who isnt wearing the opposing teams colors. Their health will be between 50-99%. Once you get the syringe gun unlock you can shoot friendlies and if you gain health then they are a spy. Spies will ALWAYS uncloak right behind someone. On the TTP servers a disguise dosnt get you very far. If you can run as fast as a scout its a spy. If the enemy team isnt shooting your target its a spy. While these dont relate directly to you switching off medic, medics are the spies primary target so you should know it :P
I think everything has been covered exept that reply that said stop being a bitch and play medic yourself, try and phrase it in a nicer fashion.
