Remember Quake had that MOD with Runes; maybe something like that.

They won't forsake the stable landscape of the competitive scene, especially that they know and enjoy the competitive scene so much. So regardless of what extras are in there, we'll still be able to play vanilla tf2 I believe.

10 Million people all around the world play and are addicted to WoW, so the subtle inclusion of MMO skill/achievement/weapon/item upgrades is a logical move.

One game that never got enough credit for its innovation was PlanetSide.

yeah consultant they do happen with the axe and kritz but i don't know if they could with other things... there are enough other effects in there to be worried regardless

If they do it right it could be fun.

Like ooze mentioned above, quakeworld had runes for ctf play which were really fun in my opinion. They got a little weird with later versions of quake, but it could work.
