Re: Newbie
these are instructions to add the server to your favorites while on your desktop (not in game)
right click the icon for steam on the lower right hand side of the screen (system tray)
select servers
click the tab called favorites
press the button add a server
put in the IP address for the server ( can be found on the left hand side of this page)
press add
refresh the page
you can see the server on your favorites forever and how many people are in it, the max # of people, the map its on, and your ping to that server
double click on the server you wanna join and itll start up the game and connect to that server

I did play. I ended up being able to use WickedTribe as my name. You're welcome for the easy kills.
Everyone was very helpful. I have no idea who helped me and thus who to thank, because I had no idea what the hell was going on most of the time, but it's a great game. It's much more fast-paced than 2142, and a bit intimidating, but I'll probably be making regular appearances. Any suggested reading so that I'm less of a burden to my team next round?

Heya, glad to see another person join ttp tf2. For now I would say just follow your teammates around and try to cover the medic and soldiers/heavies that are working with the medic while you learn the maps.
As you get more comfortable and learn the game stuff more, check out this thread that has some good tips and tricks added up. Some of it won't make sense until you play more and learn the classes and weapons. http://www.texasteamplayers.com/index.php?topic=59158.0
