    Teamplay on TF2

Correct if me I'm wrong because I wanna be sure about this.

When you come to play on a ttp tf2 server and you're going to snipe, you're supposed to be sniping heavies, enemy snipers, any targets keeping your team from winning.

When you're spy, you supposed to back stab medic+heavy combos and sap enemy buildings.

Regardless of what class it is, you're supposed to be playing together and working cooperatively to win, not score points, or be Rambo, or grind for achievements.

"But I'm a good sniper!", ok then, great, then kill heavies and any enemies in our away or on the cart, otherwise switch cause you're not helping the team.

Am I right with these statements or am I wrong? I'm just asking because we seem to have a lot of bs players lately in the afternoon.

I don't think that Spy's are like "OMG, if you have 2 and you can't kill the Heavy's switch!!!" Or Snipers are COMPLETELY focused on killing Heavys. I can kill every class as a Sniper (Conditionally)

If they are like bottom frag the whole game, have them switch, unless they are new, and there aren't any more then 1 other person playing that class.

Honestly, just because you have 3 Snipers doesn't mean you're losing because of it. I've pushed carts, capped flags, cap's control points, all playing Sniper with the rifle. You just hae to try and show them the TTP spirit. If not, show them the TTP door.
Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
    Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"

You are right. And usually a sniper will target heavies and a spy sap sentries because the game rewards them for doing so. A heavy is easy to HS, and guns are easy to sap.

Often times it comes down to the player being not good enough to fill the role, and he is trying to snipe those priority targets, but he isn't getting covered, he isn't asking for cover, or he cant make the HS because the other team has good counter-sniping, hes just running forward and dying.

Running forward and dying is the single most noob mistake anyone can make in TF2. It is ALWAYS worth it to wait for a medic, or get some back up, an push together. I feel people are sometimes over-reacting on snipers and spies, first yell at them to TALK TO and COORDINATE WITH THE TEAM. Then if they are still proving useless, ask them to switch.

Usually I try to, I asked two guys dozens of times to switch to something useful and they just laughed at me. Thankfully a admin came in and kicked their asses out.

    I agree with Crow.

Though I hate it as much as the next player when I'm sniping and three or four people decide to switch to sniper also, it is worth it for the team to try to make use of those snipers before immediately telling them to switch. If all four snipers on your team are good at what they're doing, they will make life very difficult for the enemy team - at the very least necessitating that several opponents switch to lighter classes themselves to make themselves harder targets (or to countersnipe/spy). Try blobbing the heavy classes up around the snipers and seeing if a few moments of uninterrupted sniping can flatten the enemy team enough for the fewer heavy classes to push in just as or more easily than if the snipers had been soldiers running in with the push.

It is a little trickier with multiple spies, because it is a lot harder for the other players on the team to support several spies than it is to support several snipers.

Watyourdeal you have to realize that the heat of the update is still here being 2 classes came out at once so the asshats that are achievement grinding are gonna be twice as long because they need to grind 2 classes at once. But like they said just @ to a admin and they will deal with them swiftly. Trust me admins are always watching 8) especially with our new ones that you dont know of 8)

Just be thankful that you are playing on ttp that enforces things like that and doesnt let them do it.

    Re: Teamplay on TF2

With the addition of the updates we admins expect a rise in the spy/sniper class wanting to be played, no matter how you achieve the new weapons.

But, when it comes to judgement calls such as having 3 snipers or having 3 spies... you got to understand one thing. We can't make judgement calls on just numbers (unless it's obvious), we have to evaluate players based on their noobness, team effort, and skill (I wish it were that simple). Of course, unbalanced classes are obvious and can be corrected.

However, support your admins. We try hard to do what we think is best for TTP ideals. With all these new players coming in (due to cheap/free deals with TF2), reservists and regs can make more of an impact than any admin. When a new person to the server gets warned by an admin for certain reasons and a reg backs the admin up, then there is solid proof that the servers aren't just full of rules, but they are full of respect too.

Perfect example tonight is Whiskey. Backed his admin and motivated his team to a victory in some payload maps. Well done sir...

As long as we're winning or at least putting up a good fight, I don't care if we have ten snipers. But if we're getting our asses kicked and I see we have 3 snipers or 3 spies or 3 scouts on defense, I'm gonna start naming names and asking them to change. If they don't change, I'll get an admin on their case.

Another aspect I think is overlooked is who gets to keep the class. I've seen some pretty bad snipers out there, who really do need to switch, but for the most part, I think the clases should be first come/ first serve. It's still a game, and people should have fun. You only get better through practice. So "I'm the better sniper" really shouldn't come out imo.

    Re: Teamplay on TF2

I play to win. If we have an option between a 50 point sniper and a 10 point sniper, I'm going to ask the 10 point sniper to switch, unless the 50 point sniper is willing to do it. You can practice the classes you suck at as much as you want as long as the team is doing okay, but if the team's failing, the people sucking at the classes they're playing are first up for being made to switch classes.
