If people want to whore achievement servers, fine, let them, it just shows how much moral fiber they have if any or just how bad they are at the game. But if you noticed, the achievements are getting slightly easier. Compare the medic and sniper achievements and you'll see what I'm talking about. I think if they

Look, I bet most people who idled really don't give a fuck whether they lost their hates. Okay, they might, but it just doesn't really matter.

Personally, I don't even see why it's bad. You sit on a server, and you just sit there. You earn hats. Why is this wrong, not "because it's valves rules" but why is this wrong, REALLY?

Because you aren't just "sitting on a server" as you put it. You are in fact not in any TF2 server, you are using a program that is spoofing the Steam Cloud into thinking that you are connected to a TF2 server when in fact you aren't.

That is fundamentally wrong.

I have no problem with people sitting in 'legit' Idle servers to get hats. I think it is kind of pathetic and I personally would never do it, but it is 'legal'.

Absolutely. One is a legitimate server with a legitimate connection to the Valve Master Servers and the Steam Cloud. The other is simply sending fake packets of data to the Valve Master Servers.

It boggles my mind that you can't see the difference between the two...

Is it sending hacks to the server to say, like, increase the time played? No. Is it doing anything illegal? No.
So what is wrong about one or the other, even if it is sending fake packets, even though I see your point about fake servers.
