question about retail tf2

Ok so I bought the retail version of tf2 back in November last year, and my friend Esquire moved in with me. I was wanting to know isn't there a limit of 3 people who can share the same serial number for a game or is it one per person?

And if so, if I want him to try tf2 on the pc will I have to get another retail copy of tf2?

Doesn't the retail version just go through steam anyway? And if that's the case it's 1pp

Yes, when you install it the cd key gets tied to the steam account.

Where are you getting the 3 people per key? That dosen't hold true for... almost any program that requires a CD key. The only one I know of that does allow multiple simultaneous installs is Office 2003 Student and Teacher...

Spore allows 3 installations from 1 CD key but thats 3 installs... So youdont want to deleat it. Itunes allows 5 different computers to be linked to one account....

Starcraft allowed something like 3 spawned copies of the game that could be used online. So you could have 4 or so people on B.NET with only one serial.

I actually used that feature just the other day in fact.
