New update before year end, but no trading?

I was in EVGA when the battle royal was going on, and a guy in there was talking about how there was going to be an update where you could combine weapons like if you multiples of them to make a better weapon. Then he said it was from the steam forums and it turned into a flamewar between him and another guy about if it was reliable or not. Just something to think about i guess.

It's called crafting and it was posted on the official TF2 blog months ago. No point in arguing about that.

It might be crafting and a Christmas-Theme update. Which would be funny. Typically, they've done more to emphasize class updates before they come out - seeing as we're likely going to see a soldier or Engineer update next. I imagine the Engineer getting a slow-turning and longer-range massive cannon that explodes when it hits things. It makes them less vulnerable to soldier, sniper, and demo spam, but spies, scouts, and pyros dance around it and blow it to smithereens. It also stresses teamplay. Since it's easily taken down by fast classes and spies (you can kill the engineer yards away and still make it to the gun before it turns), you'd need support for the gun more and more. Plus, it adds more variation to the gameplay. There's a sniper in the window across pl_goldrush or pl_badwater? Not anymore!

It makes placement less of an issue, but teamplay more important.
