    Any truth to this?

Apparently this is how to completely get rid of mouse acceleration, I just want to know if this will do me any good.

I tried it out, and the change is definitely noticeable. Workin' pretty nicely so far, but I'll need to try this out on some actual players to get an accurate idea. I'd recommend giving it a go anyway.

This is very accurate. I'm going to do further testing, but the built in mouse acceleration is sufficient, and will very likely improve your response and accuracy in game when the windows mouse acceleration is disabled. Time to play with this a bit, and see if I see a significant difference in game.

I just uncheck "pointer precision" in windows control panel/mouse software, and make sure accel in game is turned off, and that removes it fine for me.

I move my mouse fast/slow and it goes the same distance so I dunno if this registry fix is necessary unless you play older games like cs/q1/q2.

Also keep in mind some very good players do use mouse accel so its personal preference, its not gospel to not use it. Although those players do remove the windows accel and use the in game accel settings.

you can still be consistent with mouse acceleration you just got to compensate how fast you move your mouse into how you aim.

I keep it on. I need it for the quick flicks and broad motions, especially for a reflect jump.

To completely get rid of mouse acceleration... don't use a mouse?

Ditto... I've never had to do anything fancy... and it is easy to test whether or not you have any acceleration leftover (move mouse slow/fast through same portions of mousepad and see if crosshair moves more or less on screen).
