now that all updates are completed...

what is your most satisfying/ least satisfying update, and why?

    For me, it'd be:

    Least satisfying:
    --------------------
Demoman: Charge n Targe isn't a great addition to the Demo class, it feels like Valve wanted to add a tenth class but just stuck it onto demo instead to me. Also, no Grenade Launcher replacement makes me sad. I'd much rather have a Grenade Launcher alternative then three melee alternatives, all of which are outclassed by the bottle (with the exception of the pain train, which can be handy in rare circumstances)

    Most satisfying:
    --------------------
For me, it's a tie between two classes:

Engie: for a long time, I've used engineer as a sort of "pseudo-main", only using him sometimes when I'm not doing comp play, and I was happy that valve was able to find a balance that didnt break his gameplay and still added alternatives. The feature I'm most happy with is the option to move buildings, and the Frontier Justice is a great weapon that I will be using often, as well as the Wrangler (as a soldier main, the rocket jump option of the wrangler also pleases me). At first, I was disappointed that we didn't get any building replacements, but then I realized that it would be too hard to balance, so I was happy with the way it is now. I think that the new twist with the pyro starting to become an engineer counter class is interesting, and I think it's a good change, seeing as the pyro needed a buff.

HOWEVER, I don't like how valve is blurring the class lines. Some classes that counter each other (Spy -> engineer) no longer counter each other as much (Southern Hospitality pwns spies, revenge crits also pwn spies) (spy -> sniper, razorback and jarate pwn spies) (engineer -> scout, engineer sentries used to be able to clear out scouts easily, now bonk makes sentries useless on scouts)

Medic: I'm very happy with this update, specifically the Kritzkrieg, as it adds a whole new dimension to the medic class, makes him more fun to play IMO, and doesn't ruin his distinctive playstyle. The Ubersaw has become the "vanilla" melee weapon, and while I'm unhappy that it seems to be a direct upgrade, as with the equalizer, the kritzkrieg is just so good of an alternative to the medigun that the medic update has satisfied me as much as the engineer update.

    your thoughts now please

    Least satisfying:

Heavy by a long shot. When the items were first releases, they were freaking awful. They've had to buff each and every one of them, some multiple times. Hell, when it was first released Natasha's slowing effect didn't even work right... Even with the buffs, the three heavy items just make me sad. They don't offer a different way of playing the class, they don't really open up any new strategies, they are just meh...

    Most Satisfying:

I have to say, I'm really liking the engy update. Sure some of the stuff is frustrating and there are some Wrangler god spots on some of the maps, but I just like the new feel to the game that the movable sentries and mini-turrets have created.

I would disagree with Arreo only on the sandwich. That really helps make a solo heavy more versatile and can save a medic's life. I don't like the new nerf on it though.

Have not played with the new engie tools. My most played class is heavy, and I run stock except for the gloves. The other updates suck.

i dont like how every class got something to help them stay alive.
then to balance that valve started adding all these crit and mini-crit weapons. just so hard to know who and what you can take on before retreating.

i wouldnt mind a vanilla mode + medic unlocks... doubt valve would want to fragment their game though.

    Least: Scout.

I don't use any unlocks except sometimes the Bonk, and that's only after it was buffed. FaN is awful. Sandman is a dumb gimmick. Crit a Cola is pretty much a "kill me" sign unless you've got amazing aim and somehow got the perfect flank and had time to drink it.

    Most: Medic

Hard choice for me but the kritzkreig ultimately changes the game more than any other unlock I can think of. Ubersaw is a nice upgrade and the Blutsauger is useful sometimes. Basically 3 solid items that improve his playstyle or give him a new one.

Medic needed a buff and the ubersaw/blutsauger were nice buffs, but it'd be nice to see his original items get buffed so that there was a reason to switch back and forth.

Scout's bonk drink is useful and I use it a lot (had a sweet ninja on turbine with it last week) but otherwise use stock.

I have to disagree with the OP in that I love the chargin target and melee demo weapons. It opens a new gameplay dimension for the demo as it makes you very resistant to demos/soldiers/pyros and makes you get more skilled with your grenade launcher. Since it came out and I had to rely heavily on the grenade launcher I really started seeing it's true power, and then to come racing out of nowhere and decapitate a soldier is awesome.

Favorites: Spy and Engineer, both added a lot to the class without necessarily breaking class balance. The only thing that was op about Spy was the Dead Ringer, and that got balanced thankfully. As for Engineer, a lot of smart choices were made and as far as I'm concerned, nothing is op so far. The Wrangler is easy as hell to counter, the FJ is only so useful, and the Gunslinger well....kinda needs a buff, but not too big.

Loathed: Scout, simply because now the only thing I find useful is surprisingly bonk, and even that doesn't do so well atm. the FaN and Sandman were nerfed a bit too much I think. As for Heavy...could've been better.

One thing that still confuses me tho, why the hell was the Shiv made? I can't seem to figure out it's purpose....must make new thread.
