Re: Message to Regs, please do not choose random
Random's the only way to go. In terms of numbers, you can't have numerically unequal teams if everybody joins a random team since it'll dump you in the team with less players. In terms of skill, there's not much you can do. If the teams were PERFECTLY even, the game would deadlock and there would be no winner. The teams are always stacked- just not enough to notice. Joining the random team keeps the teams close enough, enough of the time, that it's not an issue. It's extremely rare for a team to be overwhelmed by simple probability. 99% of the time, that's due to players intentionally picking sides. The Random Number God is a lot more fair than any of us.
If you wind up in the extra one percentile (and we've all been there,) feel free to step in and do what you feel is right- but if you find yourself doing this more than just once in a while, somebody somewhere has made a mistake.

I join, spectate for less than thirty seconds to see who's on (to minimize stacking), and then generally choose the side with the lower W/L count.
