Now will somebody with access to the game now please answer the question of the year: what are the mechanics of trading? Do you need to find trade partners on a forum, or is there an automated "match-up" system? For example, can I input into the game what I want to trade for what, and then automatically "accept" a trade from a stranger matching that criteria? Do I even need to know who he is?

I didn't see any automated match up. My trade was in the same game as me, you can access the trading through the loadout screen(not the particular class one, but the multiclass one that used to have craft and backpack accessible). If you receive an offer you can press a button to reject or go to the trading screen...which covers your main screen(I learned this the hard way, do not accept while ubering a point) where you can add items and see what they are offering. When acceptable, both ready up and it happens.

So yeah...didn't see any automated matchup, you have to at least know the person's handle, and I don't think you will automatically accept things. But then again, after only using it once, I could well be wrong.
