How many unusual hats do you have?
Seems like the servers I frequent now almost always have 3 or more people sporting unusual hats in them. Lots of Sunbeams and Plasma effects everywhere.
So who has unusual hats here at TPG? I would imagine a lot of our idlers have received some by now.
I traded for 8 keys so far and found a bunch of hats, but none of them are unusual yet.
Regular hats seem to be quickly becoming "plain". I'm kind of imagining that here in a few months that almost everyone will be running around with their heads on fire or glowing with bright light.

What else are you going to do with all your junk?
I traded a bunch of my vintage weapons for regular weapons or metal and made a killing off of that. Plus I "turned" hats. Trading them back and forth for other hats + metal then just turn around and trade it right back to get free metal. Got up to 6 refined and traded away some of that for keys.

Whats considered unique?
I just use what Ive picked up or crafted and pick the one I like the best if I have multiple to choose from. Probably trade away the rest. Dont need to keep changing around hats like a woman...

Re: How many unusual hats do you have?
In other words... it won't be so unusual anymore? ;-)
I have zero, and no intent to get one until my vanilla hat collection is complete (which should only take about 2 more weeks hopefully). I would never trade away a vintage hat or vintage weapon for metal. There's an endless stream of metal coming in the future (and even faster if you use enough accounts)... but vintage items will never be dropped again.
I'm sort of hooked on this stupid Pokemon "collect them all" theme... I know it's dumb but I haven't been like this with something since being a little kid with baseball card bubble gum packs from WalMart... and it's fun. I'm very close to having all the vanilla hats... but the point I'm getting at is there are simply too many unusuals to try to collect them all. 76 normal hats (subtract 8 for event/promotional) = 68 unusual base hats... x14 (?) effects... assuming all effects can be assigned to all hats = 952 permutations. Cripes.
I also think that in practical terms the unusuals can be ugly or even bad for your game... make you easy to see across the whole map... in the shadows... etc. The sunbeams are like a perfect headshot locator for a sniper. BUT I will also admit this is true of even normal hats like Chieftain's or any "big" hat. Coors once pointed out that hatless are the best hats tactically since they make you smaller visually. And while I think the unusual effects look silly, they are also kind of neat, I'll admit.
Once I finish my regular hat collection, I'll start buying Max Heads and Earbuds (think "super-refined"), and stockpile them to eventually start buying unusuals with, I guess.Last edited by Veovis; 10-25-10 at 01:58 PM.
