Why I refuse to open crates

I fail to see why people spend so much freaking money on this game...that guy just flushed 40 something dollers down the drain. Not to mention he already had all the sets so I assume he bought that 50$ pack of them

Didn't spend a dime and I got a V. KF Set, a Robin Hood hat and some misc. new junk items.

I love the robin hood hat though. It's so badass.

Additionally why I don't spend money on this game. The amount he spent there really easily could've gone for a new game.

According to TF2wiki, the fists of steel and candy cane are from festive crates only, no crafting or dropping.
Not sure if it is true, so instead of risking it I traded 3 crates for them both.
Instead of 2/15 chance of getting one of them and spending $5+ I get them without gambling away money.
If they are crates only, and the crates disappear I want to get them while I can.

Posted on SPUF and had to take my post down within 2 min. 6+ friend requests and a few pms almost instantly.
