TF2 Blog: The Replay Update
Steven Spielberg. Robert Scorcese. Socrates. The guy who made those Old Spice commercials.
What do these names have in common? They are the four best filmmakers in the world. And they all got there the same way: by competing in a filmmaking competition we're just now announcing.
Go pick up the berets that just flew off your shocked heads, filmmakers, directors and auteurs. Because The Replay Update is live, and we're celebrating with the First Annual Saxxy Awards--the most prestigious made-up contest since the "strongman competition" Robin Walker held at his house last year, where it turned out he just wanted help moving his couch.

Re: TF2 Blog: The Replay Update
Sweet, this is pretty cool. Maybe now we can have a more entries into play of the month now that it is this much easier. Now I will have video proof of those ultra long distance crossbow kills I get. Will make you all dread my battle medic prowess (wait why are all you aiming for me with those scary rockets)

Re: TF2 Blog: The Replay Update
It'd be great if it actually worked.....all the servers I have tried so far, no luck.
EDIT: Server owners: How to enable replays - Steam Users' Forums

Re: TF2 Blog: The Replay Update
Yes demos are still exactly the same (Currently you cannot import demos into the ingame editor but Valve said they are working on it), what recordings essentially do is allow you to download the server demo of your last life. Servers need to choose to turn this feature on because it is essential taking a loop server demo 24/7, recording over itself unless someone chooses to download a portion. You can even press your record button (default F6) to grab the recording of your previous life when you are in dead spec if you decided to not hit record at the beginning of that life and had a kick ass life.
Servers can set up an http server for managing downloads, It must download right off the server if you don't I'm not sure. It is then placed in your temporary recordings that may be cleared at anytime (They are always cleared when TF2 updates) unless you save them directly to your computer.
Then you can view it like a server demo, 1st & 3rd person along with free look on every player in the game; Unlike server demos you can now edit and upload them to Youtube directly from TF2.Last edited by insanegammer109; 05-06-11 at 02:23 PM.
